The Boars Head Pub Reviews

Absolutely fantastic property for a large group of friends. All the facilities you could want. Rooms are well appointed and very comfy. Having the bar set up with kegs of beer and traditional bar snacks made the experience even better. The group really enjoyed the games room, big tv room to catch up on sport, hot tub and garden area with bbq. Due to the large open plan kitchen and crockery on open shelves, some items were found dirty. Could have done with a slightly later check out time to allow for cleaning before departure. It was a very early start.

It was amazing from start to finish! A lovely and quirky place. The area downstairs was just beautiful and well maintained, along with the kitchen being great never seen anywhere as well equipped! The out door area was lovely too, and the hotub was brilliant. All of the beds were amazingly comfortable and we all had a lot of space each 20 of us all in one place! we absolutely loved the pub and definitely want to go back. As well as this, Darren was brilliant from start to finish and we communicated a lot leading up to it always very responsive. If you're thinking of booking, book it you won't be disappointed! Thank you so much for having us Darren!

We had a fantastic time from start to finish! A lovely way to spend a 50th birthday! The property had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and would definitely return
Wonderful property and unique experience, I spent my 40th birthday with friends. The host was very responsive to messages and answered our queries quickly. We had such a brilliant weekend and were never left with nothing to do or new areas to explore. Really felt like running my own pub, but with only my friends as guests. The village is lovely and was really nice to also get out an about for a few hours in the beautiful surrounding area. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you very much Darren for being a great host. Adam

What a fantastic place to stay. A group of us came for my husbands 50th birthday. The pub is fantastic. A great place for a party. Kitchen is brilliant and everything you could possibly need. Outside garden is great along with the hot tub and sauna. All rooms were lovely and clean and spacious. We had a problem with one of the toilets but this was rectified and someone sent out within a couple of hours. Could not fault anything and would highly recommend
Thomas
Wow what can I say, we came here for my friends stag do and it didnt disappoint. Great facilities, beers on tap easily sorted before the stay and turned up with everything ready to go. Theres something for everyone here. Darren is great, had a few questions on facility use during the stay and Darren was quick and responsive to any questions. Treat the property with respect and youll have the best time. 1010.
This was a brilliant venue for my friends hen weekend, the place was spacious had everything we needed for the weekend, we couldn't of asked for better, the weather was beautiful the beer garden with hot tub was fabulous, Darren was brilliant any questions or concerns answered quickly. The beautiful original characteristics of the pub with welcoming warm vibes made as all feels at home, can not wait for a return visit, highly recommended
We a group of 24, 12 adults and 12 children have just returned home from The Boars Head, having booked it for 3 nights for my 30th birthday. Booking process was really easy and the owner Darren, gets back to your queries before, during and after your stay, very quickly. We ordered ale on tap and a shop to be delivered before we checked in. Ale was ready and working from the moment we arrived and all our shopping had been put away for us. Little touches like this I found really helpful amongst the chaos of arriving with so many people. The idea and property is really unique and a fantastic experience to hire your own pub for a celebration. There are lots of different things at the property, the games room really kept the children entertained, the hot tub and sauna was a favourite with the adults and the tiki bar outside made a great addition to our themed cocktail hour. The bar and kitchen is stocked with plenty of glasses, dishes, cutlery etc for all different uses, my only suggestion would be that the kettlestoasters could do with being renewed but this didn't really impact our stay. We managed to cook two big breakfasts, 3 nights of buffet food and a roast dinner, so the kitchen had plenty of use. General overall cleanliness was good, the beds were really comfy, the annexes were more modern than the pub but I loved the character of the pub as it went really well with all our themed nights. We had everything from a glam night to a western, and even a slumbergames night, we got some fabulous pictures and had a fantastic time celebrating. Location is good, having a shop over the road came in really handy and a few members of the group enjoyed going on walks to explore over the 3 days. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and it is definitely somewhere we would book again, should another event come up and we recieved our deposit back in full the day after leaving without any issues. Thank you again for a lovely stay, its made my 30th birthday something to remember for sure.
Sophie
Our weekend away was perfect! Communication with owner was great, the accommodation itself was amazing. The kitchen has everything you need, the gardenpatio area was lovely. Hot tube was clean. Sound system was really good for us to Bluetooth our music. Highly recommend.
Just back from an amazing weekend at the pub. Accomdation was clean and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked full fry up and a Sunday roast for 25 people. The games room kept everyone occupied. We had ordered beer to have on tap and everyone enjoyed pouring their own pints. Definitely a 50th birthday to remember. The owner has been great with a prompt return payment of the housekeeping bond and sorting out some things that got left and needed posting back. Think this may turn in to an annual thing for us.
Claire
We have just returned from a weekend stay. There were 23 of us for my daughters hen weekend. The property is beautiful. We had such a great stay. Everyone commented on how nice it was. It had so much space. The hot tub was a hit with most of the group. A huge kitchen so we could make breakfast in the morning. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. The only thing we struggled with working was the karaoke in the games room. We had an excellent stay and would return again.
Absolutely fantastic everything you need and very homely and quirky kitchen ... Absolutely fantastic everything you need and very homely and quirky kitchen equipment is fantastic double of most things no need to take anything for your stay bathrooms amazing and very modern and clean most comfortable beds with lovely bed linen no complaints and cant wait to come back also Thankyou so much to the owner Darren for being on hand when we needed him and nothing is to much trouble my favourite place to hire

We had a fantastic time from start to finish. The pub was clean and tidy and everything worked perfect, The pub looks even better in person than it does in the pictures. Darren the owner was helpful and polite and provided easy step by step check in details and instructions for the appliances and games in the pub. I would definitely recommend this place to others,

This was an excellent weekend away celebrating my 30th. Everything was as described and more. It had something for everyone and lots of space. Darren was also very accommodating to our requests. We will definitely be considering this for further breaks!
Recently organised a stag do weekend here at the Boars Head. The pub couldn't have been better suited. Accommodation on site was great, and the pub facilities were exactly what we needed for a weekend of drinks, games, sports 6 nations, football etc and generally having a good laugh. Before we even arrived, Darren was more than helpful in recommendations for the local area and generally ensuring we were ready for the weekend. We ordered beer through Darren at a perfectly reasonable price, and he kindly came to change some of the barrels throughout the weekend near enough as soon as we asked. Lots of talk of wanting to come back again! If you're reasonable with Darren and clean up after yourselves, he's more than reasonable with you.

Great place , lovely inside and out . It was clean and had everything you needed Location is nice too . The whole family enjoyed every minute of it I will definitely be recommending it to anyone that wants a pub experience x
We had a really brilliant few days at the Boars Head Pub. The owners could not have been more helpful and the pub was cosy and comfortable. Theyd put some beer on for us plus some extras cider and soft drinks which was super appreciated. Such fun pulling our own pints and reminiscing about past pub work in our youth. There was lots to do for all ages fab games room with pool, darts, table football, air hockey plus full karaoke set up and plenty of board and card games. The hot tub was clean and large enough for 68 adults to be comfortable more kids!. Bishops castle itself was charming with everything youd need more pubs, takeaway, garage open til 10 and some really stunning circular walks from the property. Wed love to come back.
The Boars Head Pub was everything we hoped it would be and much more. Everyone in our group had an amazing time and would love to go back one day. We cant thank Darren enough for providing such a lovely venue.
This property was amazing for a 50th birthday celebration. All the facilities made the weekend go so well . Well equipped kitchen with everything you need . Bar well stocked with plenty of different glasses. Log fire was brilliant esp since it was extremely cold weather outside . Games room and hot tub were well used by us all . The host Darren was brilliant in replying to all my questions . would highly recommend and friends have already been asking for the details . Thankyou so much
We had a fabulous time at The Boar's Head Pub. My family and I aged from 10 months to 76 years, and 3 pups were very warm and comfortable. Plenty of space to eat, drink and play. Good facilities lovely hot tub. Bar was great fun, and I loved cooking in the wonderful kitchen. Beautiful bedrooms, all equipped to a very high standard. Some beautiful bits of furniture, lovely lamps and shaded and beautifully decorated throughout. Darren responded to any needs quickly, politely and efficiently. An excellent host. We have re booked no better recommendation

This is the second time we have stayed here to celebrate a 60th and 65th birthday and the venue is so good for a group of friends and family to have a pub experience completely on their own with other facilities within to keep different people happy. This last time we brought all our food to cook in well equipped kitchen which made it easier and no one had to go source what we needed. Darren the owner was great and all the drinks we ordered where on in the bar ready for us to pour.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Boars Head! Really great venue, very unique. Will definitely be returning one day.
Booked this pub for my 60th birthday celebrations with friends and family. Fantastic place! It had all the facilities you need. Industrial kitchen with every pot, pan and utensil you can imagine. Rooms were very clean, comfy & warm as were the Curly Tail accomodation. Games room was amazing and the cosy pub with the multi fuel stove was so inviting. I recommend Wendy for a delicious Sunday lunch. We all had a fantastic time & will definitely be back! Well done Darren on an amazing place!
Daniel
Amazing place, Amazing stay! A wonderful time! Darren was a brilliant host!

Great property for a family get together. Everybody enjoyed our week and we ranged in age from 70 to 1 year. There was lots to do in the house and plenty of countryside to explore. Bishops Castle is an interesting town. There was a park 5 minutes walk from the house that was great for walking the dogs and for the grandchildren. We mostly did our own catering, Darren kindly received our supermarket order and put it all away. The Spa across the road was useful to top up supplies. We did have a great Indian takeaway meal from the Chai Shop. All in all a great week.
We absolutely lived staying here my other half 60th birthday. Everything was just perfect .had a couple of ssues that I contacted Darren over and immediately he answered and helped me we did not want to come home. We will definitely come back .actually met Darren as we was leaving and he was so lovely .couldn't of picked a nicer place to stay for a family gathering. Nothing bad at all to say .just loved it .from the moment we arrived we all fell in love with it .and will definitely be returning. Again couple of issues Darren was un aware of so he is going to sort now as he didn't know .he is a great guy to deal with personally. My other said to me you out did yourself with this place for my 60th .can't praise it enough .anyone going will love it like we did .clean .and everyone room was so lovely to sit in .we mostly sat in the bar with the roaring fire .made it so cosy .just love .love loved it there.
Thomas
Even better than expected the pictures dont do it justice. Really enjoyed our stay and communication with the property owner was very helpful.
