Carwinley Mill House Cottage Reviews

Perfect location away from traffic and all the hustle and bustle of city life. Chill out in the hot tub 5 steps from the bedroom door. Or relax in the garden with a book. A private lower decked area closer to the burn will have you feeling closer to nature, and being the perfect place for a coffee while listening to the water trickle by while you watch the squirrels and birds. The property is immaculate with big windows to allow you to enjoy the views of nature whatever the weather. Cosy and comfortable with the bonus of friendly informative hosts. A few local shops, takeaways, pubs and petrol station within a 6 minute drive. One takeaway even delivers to your cottage if you need a complete break from driving. Gretna shopping outlet and the M6 are only 15 minutes away. Carlisle is about a 25 minutes drive. I'll be booking again for my birthday near the end of the year.
The cottage was lovely, it was clean, spacious and very peaceful. It was only a 15 minute drive into Carlisle city centre, however just a 5 min drive into Longtown. I would definitely use them again and I have already recommended the cottages to friends family My only complaint which I forgot to mention to the owner was they use feather pillows, however it was only the top pillow so I swapped with my partner as I have allergies. Hot tub was fab
We had a lovely stay in April, the cottage was cosy and homely. Definitely going to be re booking for next year . The nearest village dosnt have much but 10min drive theses a town with everything you need
I stayed here with my partner last weekend for a long weekend. We cannot fault our stay, the owners of the property were extremely helpful and very welcoming on arrival. What a beautiful spot they have! The cottage was very cosy and had all the amenities you would need for a relaxing stay. We will be sure to book again in the future. We could not recommend this enough, you will not be disappointed
Welcoming hosts, excellent facilities. We were delighted with our stay and could not be happier with how it went.
We had a really enjoyable stay, it was tidy, cosy and comfortable. We would definitely recommend!
A cosy cottage in an idyllic setting. Having private access to a decking that looked over the river was wonderful, and having a large hot tub and outdoor fire was also fabulous. The hosts were lovely, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us special shoutout to Jared. Will most definitely be coming back!

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 10 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 18 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 27 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 27 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
