Property was excellent and well equipped the owners were on hand if you needed ... Property was excellent and well equipped the owners were on hand if you needed them for anything which didnt but they were around

This is our third stay in Herdwick cabin & fourth stay at Hutton John Estate & we love it. The cabin is just brilliant, spacious, modern, clean & in such an idyllic spot! The hot tub is a must looking over the fields nestled on the edge of the wood. Thank you so much for the locally sourced welcome pack. Weve walked from the cabin to Dacre & Pooley Bridge a few times now & it never disappoints! We will be back for sure.
Property was lovely and welcome basket was very nice. As we were staying for 6 days it would have been even better if there was more than 2 teabags in the basket. Also, we tried to use the hot tub but with the wood provided it didn't get hot enough which we found disappointing as we couldn't use the hot tub in the end which is the primary reason we booked this cottage cabin

The stay was fantastic. There's was plenty of little extras that go beyond an expectation of a holiday. They left us yummy treats including thoughtful treats for a birthday. The owners are very friendly and helpful they don't mind going out the way of what you need and offer what they think could be helpful. They offered us lifts as we didnt drive and offered advice on the walks and places nearby. The place itself has a beautiful view this cabin in particular had the nest of a view and was the more secluded one. It's also fairly quiet for being near a main road. And the cabin is very cozy and the hot tub experience is also a worth while one. We even had wildlife join us by the hot tub. And once the wood has burned down the heat in the hot tub is unreal and stays for a very long time so it definitely worth the wait. Pretty much if your looking for peace and quiet or your a outdoorsy person this is a good place to pick. We stayed for a week and never became fed up of any of it and still didn't want to leave. Hutton John is definitely going to be top of our list when we want some child free time and a romantic time away.

Fantastic cabin, very private and comfortable, deceptively large and everything finished to a high standard. We had lovely walks in the grounds and enjoyed walking to the pub in Dacre. Wish we had booked for longer! Will definitely be back soon, so much more to see. Christian and Melissa

Brough Castle is a ruined English Heritage castle on a ridge overlooking the Stainmore Pass, built within the walls of an old Roman fort. Its towering keep dates from about 1200, and the site was a frequent target of Scots raids. The Clifford family later added more comfortable living quarters, which were accidentally burnt after a great Christmas party in 1521.

Tip: Parking is limited in the village, so don't use Brough Castle Farm. Farm livestock may be present and the ground is uneven, especially the gatehouse cobbles.
