About No.2 The Flags

No.2 The Flags occupies a prime position in the heart of Cartmel, one of Cumbria’s most celebrated villages, placing you right on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Surrounded by historic streets, independent shops and renowned food spots, this impressive holiday home offers a superb base for families or friends looking to experience village life alongside lakes, fells and coastline.

Traditional features sit comfortably alongside modern touches, with a woodburning stove and an outdoor hot tub adding extra appeal to your stay. The main living space is generous and well arranged, creating a natural gathering point after days spent exploring the Lake District.

A woodburning stove brings a welcoming glow during cooler evenings, while comfortable seating invites long conversations, film nights, or quiet moments with a book. The fully fitted kitchen is thoughtfully designed around a classic Belfast sink and provides everything needed for confident self-catering, whether you’re preparing a hearty breakfast or a celebratory dinner.

On the ground floor, a king-size bedroom with its own en-suite shower room offers added flexibility, particularly for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. Upstairs, the sleeping accommodation is arranged to suit a variety of group sizes.

A further king-size bedroom and a double provide restful retreats, while the family room features a bunk arrangement with a double bed below and a single above. Outside, the private area is perfect for spending time outdoors, whether you’re enjoying meals in the fresh air or easing into the evening with a soak in the hot tub beneath the Cumbrian sky.

With Cartmel’s village amenities close at hand, everything you need is right on your doorstep. The surrounding area offers an outstanding range of days out.

Lakeside is perfect for a gentle introduction to the region, where you can enjoy scenic lake cruises across Windermere, explore the Lakes Aquarium with its local wildlife displays, or wander along the shoreline soaking up waterside views. Windermere itself offers a livelier pace, with opportunities for paddleboarding, kayaking and boat hire, family-friendly attractions at the World of Beatrix Potter, and lakeside cafés ideal for watching boats drift by.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 8 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 9 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 23 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 26 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
