Silver Birches Reviews

As soon as we walked into the property and looked around we were amazed by the size, quality, cleanliness and facilities! Its in a beautiful location and an easy stroll into Windermere! Highly recommended!! Will definitely stay here again and Sykescottages have been truly superb and very professional!
Dianne
Thank you for our 2nd stay! A super property in an ideal location. Everything was perfect, we wanted for nothing in your fully equipped house. Lovely little touches biscuits, fizz, doggy bits n bobs, foil etc. We'd love to come back soon!
Thomas
A well equipped and clean bungalow in a quiet cul de sac which is ideally located for exploring Windermere and Bowness The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you might need for a self catering break We were lucky enough to have excellent weather and made a lot of use of the outdoor space including the hot tub, the robes and towels supplied were a great bonus. Our dog enjoyed the large secure garden area and the traffic free walk into Windermere village We had a minor issue with the preparation of the property for our arrival but this was quickly resolved with a telephone call to Lakelovers We are already planning to return next year.
On entering Silver Birches it was clean and very tidy. Everything we needed was there ,we wished for nothing.Position in Windermere was excellent, loads of walks from the front door,Booths supermarket within walking distance.Made daily use of the hot tub, gardens were beautiful, and well enclosed for our dog. Will return in the futurexx
Silver Birches was really comfortable , spacious clean and homely . It was really well equipped with all you could need and more . The owners have put a lot of thought into Silver Birches. It was lovely to come back to after a days walking etc. It is in a really quiet location but within walking distance of lake Windermere and other walks and a couple of small towns. Wonderful accommodation in a beautiful area , we will be booking again , Thank you
I was really disappointed in the cleanliness 9f the property. I really do not believe the floors had been washed as several white marks on living room floor that easily wiped away when I washed it. Also rugs beside bed in twin room were disgusting and no way they had been cleaned. They were so bad I put them under the bed as refused to stand on them. Have pictures to bsbk this. The sun room was also a disappointment as it too needed a good sweep put as dead moths and crumbsdebris from previous guests. The twin room which is the one I used generally was disappointing as expected better than the shabby , worn furniture. All in all location great but dint think it is worth the money asked as go yobthe lakes every year and hsve stayed in better. Covid is still around and therefore cleanliness is s must. Have tried to reach out to lake lovers re this but not sure if my email has sent properly and would qppreciate a call back to discuss.
Absolutely fantastic week in silver birches, the property had everything you could require. Hot tub was just brilliant. Would definitely recommend this property and I would definitely return here
Andrew
Everything was as advertised, lovely property, enjoyed the hot tub! We have visited many properties around the Lakes and this is one of the best.. Couple of maintenance items couldnt find any light switches for the outside summer house. And also appears to be slight mice issue under the kitchen sink. As bin too small, we used a bin bag which was nibbled through overnightmight need to put some traps down.
Graham
Excellent Bungalow with good facilities and a superb location with easy access via paths to Windermere shopsfacilities.
Deborah
The only thing we can think of is that the bedroom off the lounge could do with some blackout blinds or curtains as it was very light what seems to be all the time, we also had a 4 year old child with us, she was in one of the back bedrooms also had to rig some sort of blackout for her as well as she obviously went to bed early than us and it was very light in her room.
We stayed at the end of April for 7 nights. The bungalow was excellent in every way . 5 stars from us.
Fantastic property. Had a fantastic week!
Absolutely fantastic accommodation, thank you
We have just returned after a weeks stay at Silver Birches and cant recommend this property highly enough! This property is faultless and is in a fantastic location with adequate parking. On arrival we were delighted with what we saw, including fresh flowers and fizz, what a lovely welcoming gesture. Immaculately clean and wellfurnished throughout. Bedrooms are spacious with nice fresh bedding on very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are clean and modern. The lounge and dining area is spacious with a lovely coal effect gas fire which we enjoyed use of on the cold evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, including a large fridge with an icemaker, leading through to a good sized utility room with washing facilities. The Hot Tub is fantastic which made our holiday complete and the provision of towels and robes was appreciated. It was ideal for our dog who loved his holiday too, laminate flooring and doors sectioning off the bedroom areas from the lounge area where he peacefully slept was perfect. We will definitely be returning to Silver Birches.
A wonderful house the 3 cs clean, comfortable & convenient. We d love to stay in Silver Birches again. Our 2 granddaughters & their parents loved the hot tub & slept well in the extremely comfortable beds. Very impressed by the provision of towels & gowns for the hot tub. Thank you for the treats that were left.
Andrea
We had a wonderful stay in Silver Birches. The bungalow is well equipped and very convenient to walk in to Windermere. There is everything you can possibly need and the accommodation is of a very high standard. We would definitely recommend staying here.
Graham
Very clean, well equipped property with a lovely garden, the back being well enclosed for our dog to roam safely. The hot tub was brilliant, being well used and much appreciated, especially by our teenage girls. Only a short distance to walk into Windermere and some nice local walks to exercise our dog. Overall we all had a wonderful time and would have given 5 but, unfortunately, there was building work being carried out at the property directly opposite. There were days when heavy vehicles were unloading materials and laying concrete some mornings between 7.00 and 8.00. Obviously this is only a temporary problem but, it did detract from a quiet, relaxing holiday.
Tv difficult to work out the stations, sound bar not very good, nice quiet place ... Tv difficult to work out the stations, sound bar not very good, nice quiet place to stay close to town centre and local walks
Andrew
Lovely house and really great for family and dogs. Back garden is well enclosed so the dogs can be left to roam around the back by themselves while humans soak in the hot tub. Short and pleasant walk to Lake Windermere itself to exercise the hounds. Walking distance to shops and town. Really appreciated the freezer with the ice maker during the heatwave!
Great place and great location.
Claire
Lovely property in a very quiet, residential area and only a 5 minute walk into Windermere. The house was spotless and had everything you could need for your stay and the flowers, wine and milk that was left was a lovely touch too. Would definitely book again and dog friendly too. The hot tub was well used after being out and about.
Sharon
What an amazing place. We had a really relaxing holiday at Silver Birches. Garden was so beautiful and the hot tub was well used. Location was perfect.
Thank you for a wonderful staywhat a lovely countryside retreat, fabulous views, entirely comfortable and well equipped. The cottage is a very special place and after enjoying so many lake side walks relaxing in the hot tub was always a great end to each day. We enjoyed our week so much we will be returning next year. Thank you again Kim and Pete from Bristol.
Joanne
Fantastic property, very clean. Although we brought kitchen items these were already catered for. The kitchen is equipped with all you need and more. Lovely quiet location. Hot tub a plus to any holiday. Beautiful king size beds. Very spacious property. A warm welcoming gift of prosecco. Our only downside was the settees were on the low side but we used the other chairs available. Would like to return.
Stephanie
Third stay at Silver Birches, feels like home, very well equipped throughout ... Third stay at Silver Birches, feels like home, very well equipped throughout with bonus of hot tub, sofas are a bit too soft
Christine
Fantastic location. Lots of walks direct from the door. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Everything you could possibly need. Brilliant that the cottage was dog friendly too.
Absolutely love this place, it's everything and more you could wish for in a holiday home. So warm and comfortable. Everything is thought of. The sofas are a bit low and soft but that's personal choice. Hot tub is to die for. Great location, .near all amenities yet so quiet. Can't wait to return .
Elizabeth
A lovely property that was exceptionally clean just perfect.
We have stayed at various cottages in the Lakes and this was the best by far. It was spotlessly clean, very spacious and very well equipped. It was also lovely to have a Christmas tree, lights, decorations and prosecco and biscuits left by the owners. It is only a five minute walk into Windermere centre and is well placed for visiting other places in the Lakes. We will be back!
Stephen
House was perfect for our needs and felt very comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. The only things we struggled the check out time. Checking out for 9am with 2 young children and dogs was a bit of a push and felt quite rushed to get out in time. If it was 10am, I think it would have been much easier and maybe not forgotten to do a few things before leaving. This was our first UK vacation for sometime and would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the area.
Shirley
We enjoyed our stay at this warm, comfortable, well presented and very clean property which is in walking distance of the town centre. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality items and the furniture throughout the house is comfortable though we would have preferred firmer sofas in the lounge. It was very nice to have thick towels and robes for the hot tub and to be able to use the washing machine and tumble dryer. Instructions for the remotes for the tv would have been very helpful. Many thanks to the staff at Sykes and the cleaner who managed to fulfil a very late request. We would be very likely to visit this bungalow again.
Sandra
Silver Birches is comfortable, clean and in easy walking distance of Windermere village and the lake . We particularly enjoyed the well equipped kitchen with its Tassimo coffee machine and ice making fridge. In the evening it is lovely to sit in the heated summerhouse with a good book looking out over the lovely garden and hot tub . We would love to go back one day.
Deborah
Perfect location, quiet and easy walking distance to Windermere town centre, would definitely go back and stay here again.
Gordon
This is the second time we have stayed at Silver Birches, it is a lovely house in an ideal location. We could have used a little more information in the folder i.e.bin day. How to use their elaborate T.V system i.e. 4 remotes left in the house but only a picture of 3 given in the information pack and no instructions as to their use. Spare duvets, only found on the last day. Still really enjoyed the holiday despite the weather.
Lovely house in a great location with superb facilities.
Katherine
Excellent cottage and base for our stay in the Lakes Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return to the cottage sometime in the future however the huge price increase may mean this is not possible.
We were very lucky with the weather high 20s every day ,so we were able to enjoy the outdoor life the lakes offers. Our location to windermere and bowness was within close walking distance which was great. Silver birches is a fantastic place to stay.
Perfect base for our stay. Beautiful cottage with great amenities. Wanted for nothing.
Lauren
Such a wonderful spot! Convenient to town but a secluded and private space. Inside was clean and nicely decorated. Really great!
Christine
There was a lovely welcome of Prosecco, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and milk in the fridge when we arrived. Everything in the bungalow was too a high standard and of good quality. Towels and robes were provided for the hot tub and toiletries were available in every room. The kitchen and utility room were well equipped and instructions were readily available for all the appliances. Good instructions were available for the heating. The gas fire in the lounge quickly added any necessary additional heat. There are lots of places to sit outside, including a heated summer house. Much of the garden and hot tub area is very private. The centre of Windermere can be reached on foot in under 10 minutes. The only thing that I would recommend to improve our stay would be to provide a larger fitted sheet for the bed in the room with the ensuite bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 5 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 14 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 17 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 21 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 24 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
