Kaber Chapel is a charming house set in the quiet village of Kaber near Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. Welcoming families and friends into a remarkable conversion where heritage and comfort come together beautifully, boasting a toasty hot tub, infrared sauna, an indoor barbecue and prime location between Lake District National Park and Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Built in 1891, this former chapel still bears its original character, and that sense of history settles around you the moment you step inside. As you enter the open-plan living space, the full-height ceiling rises above you, offering an immediate feeling of openness while the preserved altar rail and lectern gently anchor the room to its past.
The living area has been shaped for relaxed time together. Your steps move across the tiled flooring, guiding you through the spacious layout towards the kitchen, where a sleek black Aga stands against deep red floor tiles that bring warmth and richness to the space.
Whether preparing breakfast or gathering for an evening meal, the room encourages shared moments. The dining area is ideal for lingering conversations, while the sitting area invites you to unwind beside the woodburning stove after a day exploring.
A utility room brings additional convenience, and the first-floor sitting room provides a peaceful retreat. As you head towards the mezzanine steps, the flooring shifts to oak, adding a warm, natural feel beneath your feet.
Five bedrooms are arranged with comfort in mind. The ground floor includes a king-size room with an en suite walk-in shower, as well as two twin rooms suited to children or friends sharing.
On the first floor, two king-size bedrooms each offer en suite facilities, one with the added luxury of a whirlpool bath. A ground-floor shower room completes the layout and features an infrared sauna.
