Bridlington Bay House Reviews

Yasmin
Upon initially viewing this property on Sykes Cottages, I was very impressed. It appeared to be an excellent find. My family and I had planned this gathering several months in advance as we sought an ideal location and accommodation for our gettogether. The location is quite lovely, situated very close to Bridlington beach with charming gift shops nearby. However, regarding the property itself, I was very disappointed with its condition . While the kitchen appeared tidy at first glance, we noticed the oven and utensils were left in a somewhat unclean state. Given the cost of the property, we would expect it to be clean and in a usable condition. Secondly, although the rooms had been tidied and the linen was clean, some towels exhibited deep stains, leading to uncertainty regarding whether they had been replaced. Some toilets did not flush properly, and one ensuite bathroom had no working lights. Additionally, another ensuite had a broken door, requiring the use of a blanket for privacy when the toilet was in use. One ensuite door had a broken handle. The house is spacious and can accommodate a substantial number of guests however, these maintenance issues require attention. Please ensure the handrails are thoroughly cleaned, as they are currently sticky. Additionally, the carpet requires a deep cleaning. The door stoppers should be replaced with thicker ones to prevent damage from the heavy doors closing forcefully. To mitigate potential accidents, installing more robust door holders or stoppers is recommended. The Henry vacuum emitted an unpleasant odour during use. We also noted the absence of dishcloths, kitchen towels, and a dustpan and brush for sweeping. Furthermore, the external bins situated at the rear of the property were also a point of concern. The bins were already full from previous tenants, which was problematic as waste was piling up and attracted foxes at night, resulting in a significant mess. If you are going to rent your property to tenants for the holidays, it is essential to address these issues.

The property was situated within walking distance of the town centre and the beach which was really handy. Not sure when the property was last cleaned but some of the towels had dirty brown stains on, the cooker was so dirty we dare not use it and there were loads of dead flies in one of the en suites. It also stated that the hot tub was emptied after each stay however it had loads of sand in the bottom so we did not use it. The general maintenance of the property was poor as there were door handles that were loose, sliding doors not on runners, some of the garden furniture was broken, the wheelie bins were missing and every time someone used any of the bathrooms the pipes were noisy, which was very annoying during the night. We were woken during our first night following an incident from the flats next door where the police, fire and ambulance service all had to attend. We payed nearly 1500 for 2 nights so was expecting a much higher standard, but unfortunately this was not the case. Due to these issues we wouldn't stay here again or recommend this property to our friends or family.

The house was brilliant big and spacious and perfect for a group of adult friends who don't want to share dorm rooms. The only slight downside was the eating area which we didn't use as it felt dark and uninviting and wasn't fully represented by the photographs. I'm sure it would be fine in winter, but during summer we wanted to be outside so just used the garden space whenever possible. Julie was very responsive and helpful and we will definitely recommend the house to others.
This is a fabulous property, very handily situated within easy walking distance of Bridlington Town centre. Julie and the team made sure the house was super clean, and easy to access. Julie was also available if we had any queries. We were a multi generational family, so the large front room, amazing dining room, well appointed kitchen, and the fab hot tub, were much appreciated. Bedrooms were comfortable too!! And safe car parking was just over the road. Highly recommended!!

A great size property with everything you need perfect for a large family gathering, rooms are all comfortable with own toilet or ensuite, really clean , quiet at night and only short walk to town or the beach. Fantastic place

This is a great property for big family gatherings. It is very convenient for beach, local shops, pubs, restaurants and travelling further afield. The hot tub was a great hit with our family. It is well equipped for the number of people it can accommodate too, was clean and comfy. Thank you to the owners.

Heres a shorter, punchier version perfect for an online review Fantastic holiday home! Our family of 21 kids, adults & dogs had the best Christmas weekend. The house is huge, fully equipped for cooking, and just steps from takeaways, Tesco Express, and the beach. Couldnt recommend it morethank you Julie & team for making our first big family Christmas a roaring success.

Bridlington Bay House was perfect for our needs as a large group of board gamers. The house was warm spacious and clean. A few of the fixtures and fittings were in need of some TLC, but for the price point I really can't complain. I think we will use the same location next year.
Yvonne
This property is wonderful and the owner very helpful. It is close to the beach and is comfy and homely. I took a group of 15 other ladies on a Christian Retreat and it was very good for us. The only thing that we had to work round and we knew this before we went was the number of double bed bedrooms more twin beds might be something to think about, but would definitely book it again
Katharine
House was generally tired looking. Reasonably clean apart from under the sofa and armchair cushions which were revolting and some bedroom drawers full of crumbs. Outside bins overflowing and unsanitary, dead pigeon on the roof outside our bedroom. Kitchen pans and casseroles completely inadequate for cooking for large numbers and grill didn't work. Worst thing was that about half the showers only had cold water and one leaked onto the floor below. I reported most of the above. Bins partially and pigeon were dealt with, but i was advised that no one else had mentioned the showers and that my comments would be kept on file. I thought that this response was completely unsatisfactory and feel that we should be given a substantial refund on what we paid for the house.
The house was perfect for our getaway! The location is only a short 510 minute walk from the promenade and beach which is beautiful as well as a 5 minute walk from a Tesco Express! Some of the bedrooms could benefit from a renovation to modernise but we all left wanting to come back! Julie was helpful and communicated effectively prior to our arrival to allow a smooth check in.
Awesome holiday, fully enjoyed by all the family. Thank you so much

We loved staying and will definitely recommend it to other people in the future
We stayed at bridlington bay house for 2 nights over the Easter weekend. 10 adults and 11 children. The house was huge with a large living room, dining room and gameschill room. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The house was clean and tidy on arrival and had everything we needed. The hottub was brilliant. The only downside for us was there could have been some extra outdoor chairs to accommodate more people and a toilet on the ground floor. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back. The owners from the next door property was telling us how they always have trouble with the guests at bridlington bay as all their guests can here people running up and down the stairs all the time so can we keep quiet. This made us feel a little uneasy as we'd only just arrived at the property and was worried about having a large family. On departure he came out and told us he heard people going up and down the stairs, to which I told him there was 21 people in the house that was walking up and down the stairs as and when needed. No one was playing on the stairs or anything. I feel like this could put people off returning in the future although we know we wasn't loud it was just general day to day noise from that amount of people. Overall we had a brilliant stay. Great house, great location and great communication from skyes cottages aswell. Would reccomend.
One of the showers didnt drain properly on the first floor and the pressure was a little bit rubbish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend family get together. The property had everything we needed and was warm and comfortable . The hot tub was a bonus for the youngsters. Even the weather was great !!!!!
Brilliant stay everything was fantastic but a few of the mattresses needed updating
We had a great family time in Bridlington. The property is minutes from the beach, fun fair and swimming baths. Aldi is a few minutes drive away. The property is huge, very good for big families. It's pretty dated bar the kitchen and the shower on the first floor doesn't heat up. Most of the shower rooms could do with an upgrade and a good scrub but we managed. The patio garden is small and in need of a good power wash and weeds pulling up, only 4 seats outside so I'd definitely take some deck chairs with you if you want to all sit out. It's very residential so no privacy. Julie the house manager was extremely helpful and very approachable. All in all if you get it at a good price it's worth the money for all the space the kids loved it. We would probably return as we had a great 4 days.

The property as listed was accurate and to our requirements. The place was welcoming and presentable. Size of the property suitable for large families. It was clean and tidy. The location to all attractions were close by as well as shops. Bridlington is a nice place to visit and a must to visit. Bridlington South Beach is an awesome place to visit. Highly recommended. Perfect location for a nice holiday break. The hot tub was a perfect feature and something to relax you during the holiday break. A place I would go back to if a holiday is planned for the northeast. Please note Saffron Resturant Bridlington is a halal place to go to for food.
The space of the property itself was excellent for our needs, all rooms and bedrooms were a great size. And the location was great, close to the beach. Cleanliness of the rooms was good too. There were some issues with the showers in the first floor ensuits. The shower in the bedroom on the first floor at the back of the house was either scalding hot or freezing cold, which was my parent's room and they are in their 70's. We would love to come again and stay longer but not getting a hot shower puts us off unfortunately. The cooker did not work as 2 fuses had blown, but someone came out to us within the hour and fixed the problem.
Absolutely amazing house with everything you need Spotlessly clean , hot tub ... Absolutely amazing house with everything you need Spotlessly clean , hot tub amazing and kids games room was a bonus Will definitely be back next year

Actually this holiday home is superb. Everything perfect but only one day night fire alarmed beeped so many times. Apart from this everything perfect and well maintained. Looking forward to book in summer . Thank you
The place was great, there were a couple of showers on the first floor that were iffy and it would have been good to know which colour bin for which item. Generally though we had a great stay and really loved the place and the location is great.
Pauline
Lovely holiday with our large family lots of room for everyone lovely new well equipped kitchen children loved the games snug . Bedrooms large and comfy and minutes away from sea front great location. One or two problems that were sorted out quickly by the very friendly owners who could not help enough.
