Byre Cottage Reviews

Lovely area but cottage was extremely dirty ! Lots of damp patches which we could smell as soon as we arrived, very draughty from gaps in doors ! Dirty carpets! Badly chipped paintwork and lots of woodlice crawling about upstairs! The bathroom was awful and used tissue to pull the light switch as was disgusting! Left the next morning for another cottage as just could not spend another day there!!
Robin
Lovely stay in the cottage with our kids and 2 dogs. Super location and very peaceful
Jo
Lovely cottage. The owner met us when we arrived with a friendly smile and a welcome pack. The views from all windows were fab and the rooms were roomy and comfortable. The village is really quiet with walks direct from the cottage (Semeter Water) istunning views surround you. I would recommend a stay here .Thank you for letting us stay
Debbie
Comfortable and clean

We had a great stay at Byre Cottage. It is in a tiny hamlet surrounded by countryside and very peaceful. The bathroom is small in comparison to other places but the shower is standard size and is powerful with lots of hot water. The rest of the cottage is very spacious and very nicely furnished. The outside area is a wonderful place to sit and eat and watch the birds. Derek the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Ideally situated to visit Aysgarth Falls,Hawes and Reeth amongst others. If we visit the area again we will definitely return here.
Paul
Fantastic cottage, very quiet and peaceful in a beautiful location.. Cottage very comfortable and well equipped, met Derek the owner who kindly provided us with some local produce. Would recommend and we would definitely go back for another stay.
Helen
A good base to visit upper Wensleydale and a beautiful and peaceful setting for a relaxing holiday.
Bruce
Byre cottage was perfect for our needs and we had a wonderful holiday. Location was quiet and easily located, with precise entry details. Fully equipped with everything needed to cater for ourselves and two dogs. The owner Derek and local people were very friendly and hospitable and there was plenty to do and lots of places to visit . The cottage was roomy with the best king sized bed weâ??ve ever slept in. Bathroom however was a tad cramped but didnâ??t detract from the rest of the property. We will definitely return. Thank you.
Judith
An extremely comfortable, well equipped cottage in a great location away from it all. Beautiful garden to relax in. Superb welcome pack.
Gill
Super cottage in remote peaceful location. Only curlews and sheep to be heard! Wonderfully comfy bed and sofa. Very spacious aside from bathroom which is tiny and a little tired with no natural light. I think it would be a struggle for a very large (height or girth) person to use loo or shower. Not a deal breaker though as such a super place. Take fire stick as no smart TV.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Byre Cottage. The welcome pack was better than any other we have ever received having stayed in cottage holidays for many many years!! Lovely Yorkshire treats, thank you so much. Very much appreciated. The cottage was in a superb area for enjoying days out in Wensleydale and Swaledale. We had sunny but very cold weather. The log burner came into it's own and we were very cosy. The white bedding and towels were of a lovely quality, the owners had thought of everything. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Karen
Cottage was everything we had hoped for and just what we were looking for. It felt very homely and comfortable for us all and our dog. We all had a very relaxing time in a most beautiful setting. Only sorry we didn't get to meet the owners as we arrived at the cottage later than we had hoped as was travelling from Essex and hit a large amount of traffic on the A1/A1(M).
Susan
It's a lovely cottage everything you need is there, the bed is so comfy best bed in a holiday let I have stayed in, the garden looks lovely but the weather was not sitting outside weather. The only thing if you have a dog that can jump walls the garden it not totally safe to leave them outside on their own, but the walks around the cottage is lovely the views on a clear day are wonderful. Happy holiday.
Colin
The cottage was delightful and in a wonderful setting. Thank you!
Gillian
Comfortable cottage in great location.
Melanie
Lovely cottage in a fantastic, secluded location close to Semmerwater. The owner had left a generous welcome pack with lots of local goodies. The cottage is comfortable and clean. There is a lot of wildlife around the cottage to watch including a barn owl. Beautiful walking nearby and the cottage is within easy reach of Hawes. We had a really enjoyable stay.
Emma
Truly amazing property to stay. Lovely and remote, in a tiny hamlet within the farm. Views up the hill out of the front awarded us the delight of watching a barn owl some evenings. The dark starry sky at night was beautiful. The back garden was also a great place to sit and relax after a day of walking. The cottage itself was very comfortable and well equipped. Small bathroom but that wasnâ??t an issue for us. Large bedroom with comfortable bed. Sofa in lounge one of the nicest weâ??ve had for collapsing into. The local area gave us some great walking. A few miles away was Hawes with its great selection of little shops and pubs. Like everywhere in the Dales, so pretty. Would happily come back here again both for the cottage and this beautiful part of the country.
Kate
Great get away, beautifully quiet location with lovely walks. Fabulous welcome pack and key left out for arrival at any time.
S
A very comfy, well equipped cottage, in a beautiful, very quiet location. We loved the evening & morning sightings of the barn owl, real treat. The garden both back & front was lovely too. Would thoroughly recommend, especially if you like a peaceful retreat, but within easy reach of some lovely Yorkshire locations.
Linda
Fabulous cottage very clean, kitchen was very well equipped, beds super comfy. Great outside space, such a peaceful location. Every night the barn owls were hunting over the field opposite the cottage perfect entertainment ! Wonderful walks from the cottage, and lots of lovely walks just a short distance drive as well. Great area for dog walking. Looking forward to visiting again.
Andrew
Wonderful rural location and a characterful, comfortable cottage. Plenty of room, excellent heating, luxury towels and views to die for.
David
Nestled in Yorkshire's heart, this remote cottage promised a cozy retreat and delivered splendidly. The surrounding landscapes invited exploration - especially for our two dogs. Hosts added warmth with thoughtful touches, like a selection of local treats. Would (will) visit again without question.
Kate
Beautiful, remote location. Comfortable house but could do with a bit of TLC. Shower room is extremely small and anyone larger than 'average' size will struggle. Cooking eqiupment could do with a bit more thought.
