With two wood burners for winter relaxation and a pretty courtyard garden, this Yorkshire retreat is very much a sanctuary for all seasons. Wander inside to find gorgeous original features, such as flagstone floors and exposed beams.

The lounge, with its wood burner set into a beautiful stone fireplace, is a cosy space for watching the Smart TV or reading your books. The impressive kitchen/diner, where exquisite original features have also been worked into a beautiful finish, has everything you need to help you whip up delicious feasts.

Light the wood burner in here too to throw out a warming glow then enjoy a glass of wine at the table or in the window seat. There is also a useful utility room and WC downstairs and there are some stone steps between different levels.

Make your way up the stone staircase to the bedrooms at the end of each day. Equal care has gone into the design and furnishing of each of these spaces, which include two king-size bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite bathroom, and a twin with an en-suite shower room.

There is also a family bathroom. Bask in the sunshine out in the enclosed garden and absorb the scenic views.

Dine outside on warm evenings and have a glass of fizz under the stars. Venture 9.5 miles from the cottage to see enchanting Aysgarth Falls.

Arrange a day out to Richmond, 18 miles away, where you can wander the shops, dine out and spend time at the Norman castle. Delve into history at Muker's historic ruins (2 miles) or wander through the Swaledale Museum (7 miles).

Theas Cottage Reviews

Ian
This is a beautiful cottage in a very rural location. It was really comfortable and well equipped. Three bathrooms were a real bonus as there were 6 of us staying. I would recommend and would definitely return.
Mick
Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Lovely walks straight from the cottage. Welcoming local pubs at Gunnerside and Muker. Lots to visit within a 30 drive. Swaledale is definitely the most scenic of the dales, and Theaâ??s cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy all that Swaledale has to offer
Geraldine
A beautiful, comfortable, cottage in perfect, peaceful location, with amazing views.
Peter
A very well appointed and comfortable cottage in a glorious setting
Claire
A beautiful, spacious cottage for walks, peace and lovely views. Delightful garden which was well cared for. We enjoyed a 45 min walk to The Kingâ??s Head in Gunnerside for a pub meal a couple of nights during our stay. No welcome pack, so make sure you take some milk for a cup of tea on arrival! Muker and Keld worth a visit/walk to.

This house was the most amazing place to stay in the most perfect location. We really couldn't fault it. It was immaculately clean. The decor was to a really high standard whilst maintaining the character of a countryside property. The bedrooms were so comfortable, including the beds for a fab night's sleep and the bedding and decor. We particularly loved the attention to detail of all the local.artwork dotted throughout the house and the interesting objects on display which just addd to the feel of the stay. There is a lovely stroll down to Ivelet bridge from the house which was great to do in the evening. This takes you onto Muker and beyond if you keep following the marked path. This was one of those houses that will always keep in mind for future stays and our 3 children immediately asked when we could stay there again. Thank you for keeping such a wonderful property, you have done an amazing job!

The cottage is in a lovely location, wonderful views in every direction and within easy driving distance of several excellent pubs. Thea's cottage is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. Lots of puzzles & games available for 'staying in' days and rucksacks for 'going out' days. We really enjoyed a wonderful week. The only problem we had was the heating. The electric radiators are efficient in the kitchen/diner and bedrooms when they are on but we found they were not on for enough time, so we had to regularly switch them to manual. Also, the lounge definitely requires lighting the woodburner to achieve a comfortable temperature, this was a bit of a challenge for us as we had no prior experience with woodburners or open fires-luckily the internet came to our rescue!
Andrew
Lovely, well appointed house in great location for people who like walking.
John
Theaâ??s cottage is a superbly renovated modern home from home. It is in such a beautiful spot overlooking the Swale river below. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove each evening in the very cosy and beautifully decorated sitting room. The kitchen was very clean and was very well equipped. We were able to walk straight from the door every day. We enjoyed seeing the local farmers going about their daily jobs right on our doorstep. We were able to choose very suitable walks and were able to soak up the wonderful open landscape that is the Yorkshire Dales.
Doreen
