The Mill House

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The quality of the finishes was excellent, with real attention to detail throughout, and it felt warm, comfortable, and spacious, perfect for our weekend away. The kitchen was very well appointed and had everything we needed. The location was wonderfully quiet and made a great base for exploring the nearby areas, where we found some fantastic dog walks. The thoughtful touch of dog treats was definitely enjoyed! The hot tub was a real highlight, and having EV charging on site was incredibly useful. We would highly recommend staying at this property, or one of the others on the site, and wouldnt hesitate to return.

Lovely place to stay, short drive from Thirsk. The accommodation is very spacious, comfortable and clean. A credit to the owners. We will look to book again, thank you.

Great location. The property itself was spacious and benefited from modern facilities such as programable underfloor heating, walk in showers, auto blinds opening on the Velux skylights. The accommodation is well kitted out so no need to bring anything extra. Hot tub and log burner were fantastic. Information pack was great and the communication prior to arriving and pre departure was spot on. Will definitely book again.

Fabulous property. We booked last minute for a few days get away. Property even better than the photos. Hosts were very helpful too! Would absolutely recommend to others and would stay again.

The property was clean but sparse. It depends what your looking for, I want to stay somewhere i feel comfortable, sadly I didnt feel comfortable here as very clinical, the tv was small for the living area and the many rules of the site made it difficult for us to enjoy our stay

What a beautiful property. Hi spec comfortable and promoting an atmosphere of calmness and serenity. Welcome pack well thought out. Beautifully placed for exploring Yorkshire. We eere sad to leave but will definately returm.

The Mill House was truly excellent, spacious, well appointed, clean and in a great location. We had a pleasant and comfortable stay, and will definitely look to book there again.

What an amazing stay. The whole visit felt like a bit of luxury. Spotlessly clean, the kitchen has everything you need and we had a little welcome hamper on arrival . The beds were so comfortable and the blackout blinds allowed for a really good sleep. Although the house only had a small courtyard there was a little secure garden which I could walk the dog around. We will definitely be returning

This is a fantastic property. The furnishings and fittings are top quality even down to electric velux windows and blinds! The only negative comment I have is that there were no tea towels. Fortunately I always take one with me.

This property has everything you need for a luxury stay, it really was a hidden gem in such a peaceful location. We will certainly book again.

Wow fantastic cottage, very clean and comfortable. Please purchase a bigger TV, too small as per previous guests comments, The Hot tub requires a cover when raining cannot use. All in all would recommend to stay.

Superb cottage best Ive stayed in had everything you needed very comfortable beds and sofas exceptionally clean. Hot tub was great lovely area to go and explore we cant wait to return

Lovely cottage with everything you need. I would point out that you can hear the guests in the cottage next to us when they are talking and our tv isn't on. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

We had a great time in the cottage and could not fault anything at all. The cottage was well maintained spacious and had all the facilities needed for a great stay. The added bonus of the cottage was the on suit shower rooms, it also had a hot tub which we used during our stay. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and would stay again if we were in the back in area.

Lovely quiet place to stay. Lots to do and see in this part of the country. Finished to a very high standard, could have done with extra drawer storage in the bedrooms. Every thing you needed was provided for in the kitchen, especially the fridge freezer, a decent size. Thought the TV could have been abit bigger, but that's personal choice. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Cottage was beautiful. The only negative is that the dog walking paddock has loads of thistles growing which is not ideal.

We have been away, hence the late review. The property, 'The Mill House' was of very high quality, ie furniture, flooring, equipment, all of which was incredibly good. We could, however, have done with a chest of drawers in the bedrooms. There was no body wash in the showers, which is unusual nowhere to put anything in the shower room, ie a shelf would be helpful The large windows in the lounge area looked out onto part of the courtyard, so not much privacy we kept the curtains half closed someone else mentioned that issue Not a lot of items in the cupboards, ie basic items like foilcling film and no 'welcome' note or a bottle of milk or biscuits. We've stayed in lots of cottagesapartments both here and abroad and whilst this was of very high quality, there were a few things that didn't quite fit with the overall interior quality of 'The Mill House' Outside, there were signs on the owners' gates 'Private, Keep Out', which we felt was a bit 'strong', just Private would have been fine. Also, the lady owner went past our part of the complex many times and never knocked on the door to say 'Hello' she did manage a Hello as we were leaving! It is a difficult one, as people do like to get on with their holiday break, but equally, just a quick visit is really nice. Doesn't take up a lot of time, but does make a difference you don't expect to make friends, but just to acknowledge that the owners are there and if there are any issues to let them know

Wonderful property! Our second time here. Quiet area, great little shared paddock for dogs and good for walking from the front door. Cottage cleaned and decorated to a very high standard! Beds comfortable and linen good quality! Lovely spending time in the hot tub after a days walking . Sad to leave and would certainly return

Hot tub heaven with a dash of the countryside thrown in. Spent lots of time satellite watching and stargazing. Ideal base for all that Yorkshire has to offer. Facilities were excellent and the cottage was well laid out.

Wow, absolutely fantastic cottage. We were blown away by the standard of the cottage. We had such a lovely time, we did not want to leave. We would highly recommend this cottage and we look forward to coming back with friends. Loved the hot tub and star gazing , this just topped it off. Thanks so much

This UK staycation was an absolute hidden gem that we are so pleased we stumbled across on Sykes. The photographs of the location and decor do this property absolute justice and the detail put in by the owners for our stay was on point. Very clean, well laid out living and bedroom areas, great modern touches like the electronic Vellux blindswindows upstairs, and all kitchen appliances, cleaning and cooking materials you think youd need. We could quite possibly turn up and still have all we needed for our trip which made the stay more comfortable the moment we arrived. We arrived to the barn set up with twinkle lights on the beams and a perfectly decorated Christmas tree to top off the decor for our winter visit in NovemberDecember. We recommend definitely booking a long visit here and to take advantage of the local places to visit like Thursk, Ripon Abbey National trust, York, Leeds and some other local treasures. 2 large supermarkets about a 15 minute drive away, and with full kitchen amenities you didnt even need to leave the barn and often enjoyed a lock in playing board games, enjoying the log fire and the hot tub great outside space especially if you are a bird, aeroplane or star watcher as the sky was so clear! We visited a dog friendly pub called The Black Horse, Kirklington, for a Sunday Roast and to watch some sport. The owners were so friendly and the meal was so good we went back again later in the week for their midweek set menu. The Pub dog Lenny was a charmer and made each guest feel special the minute they walked through the door. We would definitely recommend you to bring a vehicle to get about to neighbouring villages there is also electric vehicle charging available but the local walks with the dog were just beautiful. Not even a negative to say apart from we kept the curtains closed to have more privacy from the courtyard in between the other properties on site and suggest a larger TV screen to fill the ample space in the living area. We are looking out for available dates for us to book to come back as it was the most relaxing birthday station we have had since we started using Sykes Holidays. We've just had a lovely stay at The Mill House. Lovely, quiet location. A great base to explore from. The cottage itself was beautiful, well equipped, tastefully done and a pleasure to stay in. We loved the hot tub which added to our relaxing stay. We will definitely recommend The Mill House to our family and friends.
