Watergate Bay draws surfers and thrill-seekers year-round. Exposed to incoming Atlantic swell, the beach is an excellent spot for water sports – a local surf school runs lessons in surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and kitesurfing.

The South West Coast Path stretches along dramatic clifftops to Newquay's (4 miles) seven bays in one direction and Mawgan Porth (2 miles) in the other, with miles of rugged coastline in between. Music festivals and surf competitions bring a lively energy throughout the year, while a selection of beachfront restaurants and cafes line the shore at Watergate Bay.
