The centre is famous for its wildlife conservation and has wonderful views of the sea and wide skies, with walking trails around the reserve, bird hides, dragonfly ponds and more. Pick up a backpack with birdwatching and bug-hunting kit from the visitor centre and enjoy a reviving drink at the centre cafe.

Discover peaceful country walks from the doorstep or go for a spin on the National Cycle Route which runs through Welney. The village pub serves food made with local produce.

Hire a narrowboat for a gentle journey along the River Nene in the market town of March and follow the Gingerbread Trail in historic Downham Market (both 10 miles). White walls and pale wooden floors frame the welcoming interior of this detached house.

The bright lounge houses sumptuous sofas and a Smart TV, while the spacious, open-plan kitchen has all the culinary aids you might need to whip up meals. An island with bar stools is ideal for quick snacks and there’s a dining table seating six.

Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a shower room and WC. There are Jack and Jill-style doors from both the shower room and hallway, so that it can be used either as an en-suite or by the rest of the house.

Upstairs, find two further bedrooms, comprising a king-size and a twin room, both delightfully furnished and with ample storage space. A spacious family bathroom completes the layout.

Step through French doors from the lounge onto the patio and a large, enclosed garden with a decked area and outdoor furniture. A relaxing soak in the hot tub for six is a great way to end the day.
