You don’t have to go far to start having fun, with this site also home to the Mayfield Vineyard, an historic producer that sells and can arrange wine-tasting and tours. Whether you’re travelling as a small family or two couples, you can even order a bottle or two to be waiting upon your arrival.
Lucky guests can also use the shared badminton and paddle board facilities on this complex. Venturing off-site, enjoy the plethora of walking trails nearby.
Heckington Windmill (3 miles) still works, and dates originally from 1830. It’s open at weekends and has a tea room and shop as well as the visitor centre for a history lesson.
Pop into Sleaford (5.5 miles) to stock up or have a bite to eat but do check as the town holds frequent markets or events to add interest. Sleaford Museum houses exhibitions focus on the town’s rich culture.
This slick barn conversion exudes a calm feeling, with bright and airy rooms and tasteful neutral decor. The accommodation is all on one level, with the lounge in its own newbuild annexe, adjoining the original barn.
A deluxe space, it has a high, semi-vaulted ceiling, ample comfortable seating and bifold doors opening onto the terrace and garden to let the outdoors in. Gather here to chat about your day or to enjoy a glass of the very local wine while watching the Smart TV.
You can cook up a holiday feast in the contemporary kitchen. It won’t be hard to divvy up the bedrooms as they are both elegant doubles, at opposite ends of the main building.
The vibe here is relaxed, with a pared back, almost minimalist feel, so a good night’s sleep is assured. They share one very modern shower room.
