About Fox Cottage

Enjoy a luxurious country escape at this chocolate-box, thatched cottage with undercover hot tub. Set between the vibrant market town of Aylsham and the ever-popular seaside resort of Cromer, this 18th-century, brick-and-flint cottage is a superb choice for couples, friends or small families.

Surrounded by rolling farmland and just a short drive from traditional inns and acclaimed eateries, it’s ideal for those who want to savour rural tranquillity while staying close to the coast. Inside, this two-storey cottage is brimming with period charm from low ceilings and exposed beams to a magnificent inglenook fireplace that creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere all year round.

Step inside via the conservatory-style entrance and into a stylish kitchen, which has an AGA and a striking feature wall. Next door, the atmospheric lounge invites you to sink into the cosy sofa and unwind next to the wood burner, watching TV or enjoying shared moments with loved ones.

There’s a rustic dining table in here, ideal for sociable mealtimes and activity planning. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead up to the first floor, where two bedrooms, a double and a twin, offer havens of relaxation.

A chic, ground-floor shower room adds a touch of modern comfort. Outside, a shingled dining area sets the scene for al-fresco meals, while a potting shed houses a private hot tub – the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring.

Private parking is available for two cars, and the neighbouring cottage can be booked for larger groups. Spend sunny days on Cromer’s sandy beach (6 miles), strolling along the prom and historic pier or tucking into fish and chips or Cromer crab.

Sheringham (9.5 miles) offers an alternative seaside adventure and the chance to ride the Poppy Line steam train. Two National Trust properties, Felbrigg Hall and the Blickling Estate, are within 5.5 miles, along with Aylsham.

While there'll be plenty to keep you entertained at Fox Cottage itself, if you plan to get out and about and see some of what Norfolk has to offer, here are some of the nearby attractions you can enjoy during your stay. Please note that some of these activities and days out are paid and it's always a good idea to book in advance to secure your place where applicable.

Found a special day out near your cottage? Please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too!
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 6 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 12 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 12 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 13 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 16 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 25 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
