About The Gate House At Wolterton Hall

This charming former gatehouse in the beautiful Norfolk countryside is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for a peaceful holiday. The property is the ideal base to explore the countryside and the coast.

Surrounded by greenery, it offers all the space you need to embrace your Norfolk getaway. The village of Itteringham (2.5 miles) offers a local pub and a handy village shop to pick up any essentials.

The entrance hall leads to a bright sitting room with an open fire, comfortable seating, and a Smart TV – the perfect spot to unwind. A snug room with an open fire and a games cupboard provides a lovely place for the children to relax and for adults to chat.

At the end of the hall is a traditional fully equipped kitchen with a stable door leading outside, a striking plate rack and a dining space where you can enjoy your favourite meals. Completing the downstairs is a single bedroom.

Upstairs, guests will find two king-size bedrooms; one has an en-suite bathroom boasting a free-standing bath, and the other has access to a Jack and Jill-style bathroom. Completing this floor is a quiet study, perfect for reading.

Outside is a lawned garden at the front and rear, a terrace with garden furniture, and a BBQ for leisurely al fresco meals. For a wide range of shops, head to the market town of Aylsham (5.5 miles), which boasts lovely local produce and hosts the Bure Valley Railway experience.

Sheringham (10 miles) is a coastal town with a family-friendly beach and is the starting point for the North Norfolk Railway, which runs inland to the Georgian Market town of Holt. Holt (9 miles) is well worth a visit, and along with the Owl Trail, you can explore Holt Country Park.

Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 5 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 9 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Bishops Boats Seal Trips - NR23 1RY
about 11 Miles
This is a really unique attraction running daily seal watching trips from the middle of March right through to the end of October.  The experienced skippers will lead you out on one of the traditional wooden boats where you will have the chance to see both common and grey seals.  If you love animals then this is one attraction not to be missed! They also do some boat trips combined with guides on dry land such as seal watching combined with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust.  We think this attraction is excellent value for money as they keep their admission prices low.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 13 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens - NR21 0LN
about 13 Miles
if you and your family are interested in nature and wildlife then Pensthorpe Nature Reserve & Gardens is the perfect place for a day out. This beautiful area of national parkland is home to a huge range of common and rare birds from sparrows to Red Crowned Cranes and also has a red squirrel enclosure - part of a conservation programme and now home to a family of adorable squirrels. Other activities to enjoy at Pensthorpe include pond dipping and Landrover discovery tours. Pensthorpe also played host to BBC'S Springwatch in 2010.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 22 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 28 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
