About Brough Cottage

A charming property within 3 miles of Castleton, a beautiful village at the head of Hope Valley. Enjoying easy access to the Peak District National Park's many famous towns and visitor attractions, the dog-friendly property features a cosy lounge, a large kitchen/diner and a small patio garden.

The deceptively spacious two-storey property is surrounded by breathtaking countryside in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Each of its inviting rooms are decorated in soothing tones with contemporary soft furnishings at every turn.

Accessed via patio doors at the rear, the interior begins with a cosy lounge featuring sumptuous seating arranged around a wood burner, while the large kitchen/diner beyond has a breakfast bar and underfloor heating. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom and super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom offer peaceful and versatile sleeping quarters, with the convenience of a family bathroom with underfloor heating across the landing.

There are two patio areas at the property, the one at the front featuring seating, flower borders and a hot tub. The Peak District National Park is a haven for walkers, cyclists, foodies and history lovers keen to sample its wide range of natural, cultural and historical attractions.

Bradwell Moor and Bradwell Dale (1.5 miles) offer outstanding views of the local area, while villages and towns including Castleton, Eyam, Buxton and Bakewell (all within 10 miles) offer an authentic flavour of the area in myriad ways, not least in their array of shops, eateries and various cultural events. Chatsworth House is also within 10 miles of the property.

The Peak District National Park is the ideal place to relax and explore.  The stunning scenery will take your breath away and there is the opportunity to take part in ranger led guides and events.  These are ideal if you are new to the area or only staying a short time and want to see the best sights and walks.
Gullivers Kingdom - DE4 3NT

This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ

Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Denby Visitor Centre - DE5 8NX

Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.

Of course you can't mention attractions in Staffordshire without featuring the fabulous Alton Towers theme park.  The rides range from thrilling to quite simply terrifying although there are more gentle family rides for the little ones.  All ages are catered for here.  Some of the most famoue rides include Th13teen, Air, The Blade and Nemesis.  There is also a waterpark on site for some splashtastic fun.
