About Limestone Cottage

The property places guests in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside, surrounded by family-friendly attractions and captivating walking spots.

Pack up a picnic, pull on your hiking boots and drive 6 miles to the Dovedale Stepping Stones trail, which leads families along the River Dove and past dramatic limestone cliffs. The 13-mile-long Tissington Trail (7 miles) is equally charming and provides a traffic-free route through picturesque countryside.

For thrill-seekers, Alton Towers (18 miles) offers a mix of roller coasters, while those preferring to keep their feet on the ground can visit the Peak Wildlife Park (15.5 miles). After a day of adventure, Ashbourne (7 miles) is a great place to stop for food and shopping.

Entering the house through the front door leads to a spacious hallway where you can kick off your walking boots after days of exploring. The lounge is cosy with plenty of plush seating, a central wood burner and a Smart TV for those evenings watching films.

The conservatory is accessed from the living room and offers rolling countryside views, deep seating, and a day bed that converts to a double bed to sleep an extra two guests. Back in the hallway, follow through into the elegant dining room, which is a delightful spot to tuck into bountiful meals and afternoons of board games.

The kitchen is a chef’s dream. The space has country-style cabinets and boasts up-to-date appliances, including a large range oven and a coffee machine for those early morning caffeine boosts.

The utility area is accessed via the kitchen and is equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer and sink. The modern family bathroom finishes off this floor with a bath, shower and WC.

This is a top class theme park with plenty to do for the whole family.  From thrilling rides to more gentle activities for the little ones this place is ideal.  The best thing is that 50% of their attractions are under cover so the British weather needn't spoil the fun.
Heights of Abraham - DE4 3PT

This unique attraction combines an array of activities.  If you have a look on their website there are some good video clips which give an even better idea of what this attraction is all about.  Some of the highlights include the Cable Car system which is actually Britain's first alpine style cable car system.  You are transported from the valley floor right up above where you can enjoy superb Dewent Valley Views.  You can also stroll around 60 acres of wooded hillside on foot to see an array of birds and wildlife.
Gulliver's Kingdome - WA5 9YZ

The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. Denby visitor centre is a fun day out in the Derbyshire region with an array of activities iunder one roof.  An all weather attraction you can take pottery tours, see cookery demonstrations and visit Bourne's restaurant.  There are events and offers on throughout the year for example the Denby factory Shops sale where you can save £££s and October Creepy Crypt for Halloween where you can go along in fancy dress and have your face painted.  Booking is advised so check out the latest details on their website.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR

This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR

This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX

Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. The site is also an excellent place for Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.

Conkers is an award winning attraction located in the midst of the National Forest.  Combining both indoor and outdoor activities this is an all weather attraction in the Peak District.  It's really easy to get to as well, just 5 miles from Junction 11 off the M42.  Designed for all ages some of the highlights include the Enchanted Forest Adventure play area and a simulated Tree Top walk.  Look out for special seasonal events such as October half term and the Annual Halloween Party.  At the moment you can receive a fantastic discount if you book your tickets online.
