Explore miles of walking and cycling trails for all levels, or enjoy canoeing and kayaking on the scenic River Wye. For adventure, try rock climbing or abseiling.

Discover local history at the Dean Heritage Centre and Hopewell Colliery (within 5 miles) or ride the Dean Forest and Perrygrove Railways (both within 10 miles). Kids will love the magical Puzzlewood (8 miles), while Go Ape!

(5 miles) offers treetop fun. For a relaxed day out, stroll Gloucester’s Victorian Docklands (15 miles), visit the cathedral, and shop at Gloucester Quays.

Step inside through the spacious, well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar where you can plan the day’s adventures over coffee. There’s also a handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer for cleaning up after muddy woodland walks.

Next to the utility room is a downstairs toilet. The large lounge is made for relaxing, with plenty of comfortable seating, an electric wood burner effect fire, a TV for cosy evenings in, and a dining area where you can gather for hearty family meals.

Upstairs, you’ll find three inviting bedrooms: a king-size, a twin, and a single – ideal for families of all shapes and sizes. The gleaming family bathroom rounds off the internal layout.

Outside, the spacious enclosed gardens overlooking the small campsite with shepherd’s huts provide ample space to relax, play, or simply take in the natural surroundings. There’s even a private hot tub where you can sink in and soak under the stars.

Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB
about 6 Miles
Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Queenswood Country Park - HR6 0PY

Queenswood Country Park has a stunning location offering panoramic views of the countryside. The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.
Bristol Aquarium - BS1 5TT

The Blue Reef Aquarium and IMAX 3D Cinema is located in Bristol and makes a great fun family day out.  The newest attraction in the region it's an experience not to be missed.  More than 7000 animals are resident in naturally themed habitats and you can enjoy wandering around looking at the 40 displays. Highlights include the giant octopus and the cute seahorses. The IMAX 3D cinema system is fantastic - you will feel like you are swimming along with the animals.
Spetchley Park and Gardens - WR5 1RS

Spetchley Park and Gardens in Worcestershire are the perfect place for a day trip all year round. During the summer months the gardens are really at their best with beautiful displays of flora and fauna. Many families choose to bring a picnic and there are several picnic tables in the grounds. The deer park is also a big hit with children as well as grown ups. The onsite tea room serves tasty sandwiches and cakes and uses local produce where possible.

Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun.
