Dimmingsdale (1 mile) is a local favourite for woodland hiking, bouldering and mountain biking, complete with a forest café for that well-deserved tea and cake. Head for a day of fun and hair-raising adventures at Alton Towers Theme Park (1.5 miles) or, to get out into the wilderness, plan pretty hikes through the Peak District National Park (10 miles), with beauty spots like Manifold Valley (12 miles) awaiting.
You’ll also have excellent walking and cycling routes that begin straight from the doorstep. If you’re keen to learn more about industrial heritage, pottery and ceramics, head to Stoke-on-Trent (15 miles) for museums and factory tours.
You’ll enter into a welcoming hallway, then turn left into the open-plan farmhouse kitchen and dining area. This space is warm and sociable, with oak beams, exposed stonework, wooden floors and underfloor heating, plus a traditional Rayburn range cooker set into the original fireplace.
The large table is ideal for shared meals and planning the next day’s adventures. Straight ahead, the cosy lounge invites you to unwind with soft furnishings, books, games, a Smart TV and a feature stone fireplace with a wood burner for relaxed evenings in.
Stairs lead to the first floor where three good-sized double bedrooms feature original wooden floors, oak beams and feature fireplaces. There are also two bathrooms, both with showers and WCs and one with a ball and claw foot bath, for if you fancy a holiday soak.
Outside, a small courtyard leads up steps to a grassed garden with lovely valley views and a peaceful atmosphere. You can clink glasses with fellow guests, soak up the scenery, and hire a portable electric hot tub if you’re feeling indulgent (extra charge applies).
