Unique and surrounded by greenery, this impressive holiday retreat sits behind a historic castle amongst stunning countryside on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The contemporary property welcomes six guests and is perfect for friends and families looking to explore the quieter, north-western corner of Cumbria.
You’ll be within easy reach of the picturesque lakes of Bassenthwaite (13 miles) and Derwentwater (19 miles), as well as top walking spots such as Skiddaw (17 miles) and Blencathra (24 miles). For shopping and eating out, the vibrant market town of Cockermouth is just 3.5 miles away – the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth; you can learn about his life at the National Trust’s Wordsworth House.
For a day at the coast, journey to the sandy beach at Allonby (6 miles) or the lively harbour town of Maryport (6.5 miles). The property is also within 20 miles of the wild and remote Solway Coast.
The striking property is decorated in a contemporary style, with sleek furniture, a neutral colour scheme and a fabulous collection of statement accessories and artwork. The holiday home is bathed in natural light, thanks to vast picture windows overlooking the surrounding countryside.
Off the entrance hall, you’ll find an impressive kitchen/diner with beautiful views of the garden. This is the heart of the home, and the glossy kitchen has all the equipment needed to rustle up hearty meals for the group.
After a busy day, gather at the stylish dining table for an evening of delicious food as you plan the next day’s adventures. A step from here leads down to the magnificent lounge area, featuring dual-aspect windows, a plush L-shaped sofa, wood burner and Smart TV – the perfect spot for a movie night with the family.
