The historic town of Penrith, less than 10 miles away, is also worth visiting to learn about the region’s culture and heritage or to explore the scenic Eden Valley. Drop off your bags, park your car and walk through your private garden to reach the oak stairs that lead up to the front of this inviting property.

Step through the French double doors into a welcoming, open-plan living space, with the kitchen to your right and the sitting and dining areas to your left. Whip up some tasty treats in a kitchen with all the necessary appliances, making meal preparation a breeze.

On your return from a day of discovery, sink into the comfortable furniture and relax. There is a Smart TV for entertainment, so catch up on your favourite box set and after dinner enjoy an evening movie, with the gentle crackle and pop of the logs in the wood burner creating a cosy ambience.

When it is time to sleep, walk through the hallway past the kitchen and the rear shepherd's hut opens into a spacious en-suite king-size bedroom. The bed is on the left as you enter, and you are sure to sleep soundly surrounded by the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 5 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 11 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 15 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 20 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 28 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
