A tranquil country sanctuary, this enticing holiday home is perfect for those wishing to experience picturesque Cumbria in style. Set within a Grade II-listed manor house, the three-bedroom cottage sleeps six guests at Armathwaite, 10.5 miles from Carlisle and 11.5 miles from Penrith.
Plan trips out to walk sections of famous Hadrian’s Wall Path, which can be joined about 11 miles away. Closer to home, discover the natural beauty of the Eden Valley.
The scenic Lake District National Park begins about 12 miles from your base and offers a myriad of footpaths and trails to follow. You can plan a day out on the local Carlisle to Settle Train line which stops at Armathwaite.
Head to Pooley Bridge, 18 miles away, at the tip of Ullswater, to stroll beside the lake or board a steam cruise. You can also hire canoes, kayaks and rowing boats and head out on your own to experience the serenity of the setting.
The dramatic North Pennines are 5 miles from the property. There is are also two golf courses close by in Brampton and Penrith.
Make your way up towards your private quarters. Drive through the electric security gate to enter the courtyard and parking area.
Step inside via the front door and find yourselves in elegant accommodation with a contemporary, country-style finish. From the hall, where there is a handy utility room and downstairs WC, amble on through to the lounge, with its beamed ceiling and French doors to the garden.
While away pleasant evenings in here, chatting, reading your books or watching the Smart TV. The dining room, with its long wooden table and green garden views, also has French doors that can be pulled back on warm days.
From here, wander into the adjoining large kitchen, where you can still see an old range oven fitted into an inglenook but you have two electric cookers for preparing hearty meals for your group. The kitchen also features a large central island, with a wine fridge.
