An impressive, single-storey property situated in the attractive private grounds of Applethwaite Hall, this is an ideal retreat for a tranquil holiday for a family or a group of friends looking for the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District. Less than 1 mile away, you will find Windermere and 3 miles away is the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole.
Orrest Head Viewpoint with its panoramic views of Lake Windermere is 1.5 miles. There are plenty of hiking areas close by including Wansfell Pike (5 miles), Grasmere (9 miles), Great Langdale (10.5 miles) and Grizedale Forest (13 miles).

It is stylishly furnished throughout, with bright and spacious rooms. From the entrance hall, you can access a super-king-size bedroom featuring a Smart TV with an en-suite shower room, as well as a twin bedroom which also features a Smart TV, with zip-and-link beds that can be combined into a king-size on request, and a family bathroom.
There is a large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area with plenty of natural light throughout. The kitchen has all you need to dine in style, comfortable seating and colourful artwork on the walls, leading to the bi-folding doors that provide access to the patio area.
The lounge is the place to relax after a day exploring, offering plenty of plush seating and a Smart TV. Outside there is a fully enclosed private patio area with seating and a stand to bring your own disposable BBQ if you wish, perfect for snuggling up under a blanket on a summer evening and watching the stars.
Or why not relax in the hot tub that seats up to 7 people. The sizeable main garden, grounds and woodland of Applethwaite Hall are also available for you to enjoy and are often frequented by the wild deer who live in the fells behind
This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
