Quirky Cottage Kemplay Foot Reviews

Emma Collins
We had a really lovely time at this charming little cottage! It's decorated beautifully and feels super homely, with everything you could need. We didn't notice any noise from the road at alland the hot tub was private enough for us to relax fully. The place was spotless and cosy, perfect for a relaxing break. We're already talking about coming back. Honestly, it's the ideal spot for a peaceful getawayand we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat. Will definitely return!
Emily
We loved this charming little cottage - so cosy and well-stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect after busy days out exploring. The location is great, with all the lakes nearby within an hour's drive. The only downside was the busy road right outside, which was a bit noisy early mornings. Still, it wouldn't stop us from booking again - it's a lovely spot overall!
Oliver
The cottage was lovely, situated in a perfect spot. We had a very relaxing timeand our dog loved the nearby walks. Parking was fine at the front, just make sure to leave enough space for others to pass by easily.
Emma Carter
Honestly, our stay was quite a letdown. The place is right on a busy main road, so it's super noisy with trucks and buses passing all the time. The cleanliness was pretty poor-dirty dishes in the cupboard, stained toiletand the shower was grimy. Floors looked unwashedand there was hair and marks on the bedding. No welcome pack or dog treats like they promised. The garden was overgrownand the furniture was disgusting. We tried contacting the owner, but no reply at all. Not great!
George
Great for families with teens, really appreciated the nice welcome pack. Perfect base for exploring the Lake District or taking a day trip to Edinburgh by train. Loved it!
Emma Roberts
We left a note in the visitors book suggesting it would be better to have a tumble dryer instead of a freezer that no one uses during a holiday. We also texted about a missing item but never got a reply. The location is really nice - the waterfalls, caves, ferry ridesand views are stunning. Sadly, with just a week, we didn't get to see everything, which was a bit disappointing but understandable.
Emma
The cottage was really charming and surprisingly high quality. The neighbour on the left was super friendly too. Beds were so comfy, we slept like logs. The noise from the road was minimaland the location is perfect for exploring the lakes! Definitely better than we thought.
Emma T.
The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes, no doubt about that. However, I wish I'd known it's right on the A6 because traffic noise was pretty noticeable. Also, the photos make the place look a lot bigger than it actually is, which was a bit disappointing. Other guests seem happy, so maybe it's just not for us this time.
James
We loved the charm of this old cottage, beautifully restored with matching furnishings. It's perfectly located near the northern Lake District, ideal for walks. The road noise was a bit loud at first, but we got used to it quickly. The air conditioning was a real bonus too. Would definitely stay again!

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 18 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 19 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
