Bit disappointing as the lodges was expensive but the lodge was bit tired cracks in wall and roof as well as round the bath. patio doors couldn't lock decking was very slippy and some of the decking posts were rotten and TV remote was gaffer taped up so was very disappointed

Our stay was from 5925 till 12925 with 5 adults, 1 dog and 2 cars. Overall we were pleased with the lodge, its facilities and its location on the park. However, it was let down by 2 problems one of which had been reported by other guests who rented it. There is a problem with an invasion of wasps in the lodge. Apparently, this is an ongoing issue with a wasps' nest somewhere in the roof space or in the walls. We dispatched at least 15 or 20 of them over the week. Obviously, we appreciate living in a wooded area one must expect to be visited by the local wildlife, but not inside when windows are closed. We think we saw some of them emerging from the light fitting in the ceiling. The other issue was what we think is a broken key in one of the French doors leading to the decking. The door in question had been fitted with a new handle as there are 3 black and 1 chrome, or the other way round can't remember. I think the door has dropped on the adjustable hinges I've experience of these hinges, so I managed to lock it from the inside eventually by physically lifting the door and turning the lock. These 2 issues were reported to the park's reception, as per Sykes booking conditions, and also to Sykes themselves. The park said they couldn't do anything because we hadn't booked through them. If the owners of the lodge rectified these issues, then Ridgeway Lodge would be near enough a 100 perfect holiday home.

There two issues. One set of patio doors would not shut. Still unresolved. Also, there was a wasps nest in the guttering above the seating area. This meant for the first half of the holiday we were unable to sit outside. The pest controller visited on Tuesday wasps then started coming inside through the light fitting. These were taped over by the maintenance and the pest controller applied another treatment on Thursday. Please remind maintenance to remove the tape if not already done so. We note from previous revues there was mention of a wasps issue and the door issue before in May. These issues greatly impacted our enjoyment of the property.

Lovely place as shown in pictures. Comfortable & Clean for large family Hot Tub for 4 people which was OK for us. Nice little table out on decking but still needs repaintedfreshen up. Included all cleaning and kitchen essentials foil etc nice touch. Pub on site food nice and quick service. Very small shop on site for essentials. SPAR 10 min walk on main road for any extra stuff needed. Things to Note also a June review about a wasps nest in the gutter near side to hot tub its still there we went Aug 4 Also the living room double doors the right hand door handle doesnt lock not ideal if you have young children, I didnt feel safe leaving items when out and about because its quite a busy site. Lodges are close together. They do have Smart TV for Netflix but WiFi is shared with the neighbours and the signal is not good enough to watch it here. May be better if they had their own WiFi set up. We had some DVDS and watched couple of films. They do have DVD player.

The location is nice a quite and the Lodge itself was clean and modern, decking was scruffy but ok, Did make Sykes aware there is a wasps nest in the guttering next to the outdoor seating area, these fly around while you are sat outside or in hot tub and frequently make there way into the lodge. No response to that issue as yet. Also 2 handles one on the right hand set of doors and one on left side set of doors are missing external handles and the right side one is missing a key and therefore cannot be locked but also cannot be entered from outside lodge due to the missing handle. Hot tub water was also cloudy, think it may need cleaned? Overall lovely Lodge, spacious and clean.

Lovely stay at Ridgway Lodge which was as per the pictures presented. Really enjoyed our stay. The lodge itself was very clean and with everything we needed. The hot tub was great and in good working order. White Cross Bay was great after not being there for a few years. Perfect location near Windermere. Only point for improvement would be the outside furniture which looked a little tatty. Decking could also do with some tlc ahead of the summer. Minor points for the owners.

Excellent cabin with everythink we needed for a chilled weekend. my only issue which didnt affect our stay but for us was the size of the hot tub..we had 5 of us that couldnt really chill in the tub as we hoped due to it was really small compaired to others we have used before but everythink else was great..would defo stay hear again and would recomend this cabin but more than 3 people and the hot tub at any time and it is to small.

Property was fabulous clean and kitchen fully stocked with utensils xmas trees were marvellous and the hot tub amazing. Property was lovely and warm when we arrived.

The cabin is warm and cosy but a few things needs changing and proper attention. The deck needs proper cleaning and moss is falling from the roof. The carpet needs deep cleaning or changing. The dinner table is wobbly. The ensuite bathroom was dusty and mouldy which made me sneeze a lot. The main bedroom blinds needs changing to a more friendly and brighter blinds. Otherwise it's a nice cabin if given 100 attention.

Second time at white cross bay and second cabin we stayed in , Cabin was well furnished and clean and everything worked fine. Couple of little bits could do with a touch up but nothing which affects the stay in the cabin . Would book here again no hesitation . As prevoius experience at WCB the internet is pretty poor and can be frustating at times , think this down to the site but anyway were on holiday not here for surfing the net. Overall very pleasant stay and would recommend

Fantastic stay with a lodge fully equipped with everything we could ask for ! No issues at all and would stay again tomorrow Only thing we would say is that on the hot tub rules outside next to the hot tub it says hot tub can be used 8am 10pm but on the welcome book indoors it says only use between 10am and 10pm

The lodge was clean, modern and spacious enough for our party of 5. Kitchen well equipt. I would say however that the outdoor furniture could benefit from an upgrade. The table and chairs can only comfortably seat 4 people and was frayed and rusty in places. The hot tub was clean and warm but can only accomodate 3 or 4 people.

Lovely lodge which is well located in a beautiful area and well established site. The lodge had everything you need for a fab holiday and was comfortable. Little home away from home. Hot tub is a massive bonus. Internet is minimal but nice to get away from electronics and relax for a week.

The property was lovely. We did have a couple of issues, but these were dealt with quickly by Sykes very satisfactory. We would be happy to stay there again.

A lovely lodge. Well appointed, clean and tidy. The hot tub was a lovely temperature and really well maintained. Just want to stress that the wifi is incredibly poor. This is no fault of the lodge and they're clear they have no responsibility for this but be aware if this is something you would require when booking. When the complimentary wifi popped up which was rarely the connection was non existent. Again no criticism to the owners just a heads up. The restaurant on site was incredibly busy. Fine if you're family wanting a contained space where kids could run around but not great if you're an older party. Food was average.

We chose this property predominantly for the hot tub and the location on a small holiday park right on Lake Windermere. The lodge was well cared for, and well stocked decorated and did not disappoint. We also really enjoyed the free membership of the local private healthclub, as the onsite pool was too busy to lane swim during half term. Didn't use the onsite restaurant so can't comment on that. The only hitch was with the heating which Sykes resolved within the hour by sending an engineer.

Our stay was great thank you! We did have an issue with one of the trees falling on our way and smashing the back window through however understand this is out of your control. I have left a pair of slippers in one of the draws in the master bedroom, would it be possible to have them posted to me? Thanks so much, Lisa

We stayed here for a weekend and had a lovely time. The lodge was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The hot tub was checked daily and the site is well maintained. Our children used the swimming pool and we found the facilities clean and staff helpful and friendly. We would definitely return.

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction. With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money. There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink.
