One of a small cluster of glamping pods within the village’s Old Rectory grounds, this striking adults-only retreat is less than 200 metres from the Bowness-on-Solway shoreline, and close to the Lake District and the westerly-most point of the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall Path. The village is home to a welcoming pub, café and tea room – drop in for refreshments after enjoying far-reaching views across the estuary.

Explore the nearby nature reserves: the Solway Coast National Landscape offers a safe haven to a wealth of migrating birds and wildlife, and is rich in history. Just 16 miles cross-country, Victorian seaside town Silloth has independent stores and eateries, Gretna Green (21 miles) is synonymous with secret weddings, and Cumbria’s capital city, Carlisle (14 miles), is packed with places to eat and drink, heritage sites, and is the terminus for the renowned Settle-Carlisle Railway.

Stylish and snug at any time of year, this contemporary couple’s retreat features an open-plan layout that prioritises together-time. French doors to one end allow a nice flow of natural light and accentuate the good head-height, while a clever use of space provides all the essentials of home.

The kitchen may be compact but it has all you’ll need for food prep, while the dining suite has space to spread maps and guidebooks as you plan your next day’s adventures. Cuddle up on the sofa and unwind with a TV favourite, or climb into your comfortable double bed for peaceful slumbers; the shower room is conveniently close too.

A furnished decking area at the front of the pod extends your living space, but the real wow-factor comes from the Finnish wood-fired hot tub – perfect for a chill-out session at any time of day or night.
