Those with children may be keen to plan an afternoon out at the Bowland Wild Boar Park, 6.5 miles away. Here, the youngsters can meet the animals and enjoy park rides and indoor and outdoor play areas.

The super-king-size room features zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as a twin, if discussed at booking, and patio doors to the garden.
Also downstairs is a family shower room. Climb the stairs to emerge in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its vaulted ceiling.
This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
