Christon House Reviews

Oliver
We arrived to find the property quite clean overall, but it definitely needs a fresh coat of paint in several areas, which makes some parts look a bit unkempt. The wheelie bins were overflowing, which was a bit of a letdown, especially after getting a message asking if everything was okay. We responded but didn't hear back about rubbish disposal. The location's good for exploring by car, but not so much for walking. The fridge was tinyand there wasn't much kitchen equipment, which was a shame. Still, a decent place overall.

We had a great stay at this lovely house, decorated to a high standard. It was super comfy and perfectly placed along the Northumbrian coast. The hot tub was a real treat after a day's walk. The garden is peaceful, privateand perfect for dogs. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
Sam
We stayed at Chrisdon House with a big group - 7 adults, a toddlerand 3 dogs - and had a fantastic time! The location was perfect for exploring Cragside, Alnwick, Bamburghand Warkworth. It was spotless and well-equipped, with handy appliances like the dishwasher, washing machineand tumble dryer. The large TVs in the living rooms and bedrooms were a bonusand we enjoyed the hot tub a few times (even with colds!). Overall, a cracking week in a lovely spot. Highly recommend!
Lisa
The location is perfect, right in the centre for exploring Northumberland. The garden is huge and secure, ideal for kids. The hot tub is a lovely touch after a day out. Plenty of kitchen stuff too, which was handy.
James
Really enjoyed our stay, the house was stunning and super comfy!
Emily
We stayed at this lovely place, but honestly, some areas feel a bit tired and could do with a refresh to make it perfect. The peace was great, though we were kept awake early by pigeons nesting in the climbing hydrangea outside the bedroom window. We had to keep the windows open because the central heating was unpredictable and made the rooms stuffy. Also, a garden delivery guy arrived early in the morning, asking for cash or card, which was a bit annoying on holiday. Still, the house itself had charm.
Rachel
Overall, we really liked the place. The house was beautifully keptand the amenities were spot on. The kids loved the hot tub, even in winter! The garden was massive and perfect for our dogs to run around. We had a lovely time!
Emma
We stayed for a week with our family of six, spanning generations. The house is quite spacious and pretty functional, though not luxury. The kids loved the garden play equipment and the hot tub was definitely a highlight. Christon Bank has very little in terms of shops or cafes, so you need to drive to Embleton for essentials - Sainsburys does deliver, which helps. We really enjoyed Embleton beach, but beware of the early morning cockerel waking you up if your bedroom window's open!
James Carter
We loved this spacious house, especially the great location. The garden is secure now, perfect for kids and dogs. Inside, it's modern and super comfy, ideal for family get-togethers in the large living room or cosy spots like the bedrooms and dining area with TVs. The downstairs family bathroom is a real treat with a luxurious shower and bath. We'd definitely recommend it and plan to come back next year. Absolutely loved our stay!
Emma Clarke
We had a lovely stay at this bright and clean cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the areaand the village's peaceful vibe made it very relaxing. It's a quiet spot, which we really appreciated. Just a heads up, there's no BBQ, so maybe bring your own if you fancy one. The garden isn't fully enclosed-dogs and kids can get around to the front easily, especially with the hedge. Also, the gravel paths and steps might be tricky for some with mobility issues, so plan accordingly. Overall, a charming place!

Alnwick Castle and Gardens - NE66 1NQ
about 6 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
Cragside House and Gardens - NE65 7PX
about 15 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
Conundrum Farm - EX5 3AQ
about 25 Miles
With easy access from the A1 this lovely farm just north of Berwick makes a fantastic family day out.  Follow the farm trail and meet an array of friendly farm animals.  Kids will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, pet barn and tractor circuit.  The admission fee is excellent value and you will get a free bag of food for the animals and a bag of fish food for the trouts in the fish pond. When you want a bite to eat, the licensed restaurant is the place to go with quality home cooking and a charming location in some of the converted farm buildings.
