This is the 4th time we have stayed at Oakdene, all 23 ladies, and we have booked for next year too. The house is absolutely amazing, and we all love staying. From the decor, the facilities, the cleanliness right through to the hot tubs, everything is very well thought out, and amazing quality too. We spend our long weekend in absolute luxury, it really is a treat to stay here. The bedrooms are all high quality, always immaculate and so cosy. We have a chef come in and cook for us on the Saturday nights and he confirms its a very good kitchen 3 ovens, 2 large fridges, separate freezer and 2 large hobs, everything is covered! I cannot recommend staying here enough, and I hope to continue staying for many years to come.

Its pretty rare when the photos just dont do a place justice, the home was even more amazing and exceeded our expectations. Large, warm and inviting, Chris and Sally prepared the place so well, our large group of family and friends had the best Christmas. We certainly look forward to a return visit, cant recommend the place more highly.

We had a perfect stay at Oakdene and Chris was really great host! There were 18 of us and 2 children and there was plenty of space. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was toasty warm. The views were amazing too! We all meet up every year and all loved it so much we're booking for next year, thank you!

Absolutely fantastic place! The house was full of character, impeccably kept presented and set up perfectly to host a large group. Chris the host was fantastic, was always on call to discuss anything in advance and the personal handover when we arrived was a great touch. Felt an instant attachment to the place and will certainly be going back there in the future!

Oakdene was an incredible property, the views from the hot tubs were fantastic and it provided a superb base for 19 of us to celebrate my brothers 50th birthday. The kitchen set up and facilities for cooking are great, extremely comfy beds and bedding. We had such a good time and would love to return. The walk by the river into Sedbergh is a really good walk with children, we past lots of farm animals in the fields, goats, donkeys, the children loved this! The men loved the snooker room. My dad and brothers are keen players, so the only small issue was only having one cue to play with, bring your own if you have one, we will do this next time. You will also need to bring your own speaker for playing music and towels for the hot tub.

Really enjoyed our stay at Oakdene Country House. We were a large group of 22 people 13 adults and 9 children and the rooms and accommodation were perfect. Every room had an ensuite, the kitchen dinning area was huge and enough space for us all and we loved the 2 hot tubs. The only small thing is the lack of large garden to the rear of the property that the kids could have played in. There is plenty of outdoor space though, just not necessarily to the rear.

On arrival at Oakdene Country House we were greeted by Chris. He was welcoming and very friendly. We entered the house and wow, how beautiful. Every room was stunning, furnished and finished to a high quality. The owners had thought of everything that you could possibly need to make your stay in the house perfect. We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic stay at Oakdene Country House. What an outstanding property, everything was perfect and the location was stunning. We were a party of 17 adults, 4 children and a baby. The house is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. We have stayed in many properties all over the world but Oakdene is by far the best. The owners Chris and Sally had decorated the house for Christmas and it looked perfect. Having 3 ovens, 2 dishwashers, 2 large food fridges and 2 wine fridges certainly accommodated our large party. There was no dispute about bedrooms due to them all being equally as nice, with lovely en suite bathrooms. The decor throughout was neutral and the furnishings of a high standard and very tasteful.The children entertained themselves in the cinema room, which was great and they enjoyed the hot tubs. The sweeping staircase was a perfect backdrop to my partners big birthday celebration. We walked into Sedbergh by the river on quite a few occasions, which was lovely. I cannot rate this property highly enough A big thank you to Chris and Sally for making our stay so memorable.

This is a lovely house in a beautiful setting with some great pubs not far away. We were a party of 21 and used most of the facilities and would recommend it strongly. The house is beautifully decorated to a high spec. The bedrooms have good quality bedlinen and towels and everywhere was clean and warm. Almost all of the bedrooms are ensuite with a stunning annexe bathroom. We had some mobility issues within our group which were not an issue here and the owners were very helpful with any queries. The kitchen has full facilities although I might request serving spoons and a small pan on rebooking which I plan to do.

We have stayed at many holiday cottages and I can honestly say that Oakdene has been one of, if not the best weve ever been to. The setting, the decor, the attention to detail, the facilities, the views, none of it can be faulted. This is honestly an amazing place, its even more luxurious than in the photos and its located in a relatively unvisited but beautiful part of the Yorkshire dales. Chris is an excellent host who not only gave us lots of useful tips about the area but also arranged a brilliant clay pigeon shoot! Cant wait to visit again!

Simply the loveliest of holiday accommodation. We were a family of eleven adults & seven children aged eight weeks to 70 & never felt cramped as so much space . Top notch furnishings & figments , spotlessly clean throughout . Amazing views from almost every room . We enjoyed the hot tubs , cinema room & games room but it was also so nice for adults to have the peace & quiet occasionally of the beautiful morning room . The place is all even more gorgeous than the photos & we all loved it . Sedbergh is a super village , we enjoyed county cricket , street fair , fete & pub lunches there . There is a large Spar for essentials in Sedbergh . The property is peaceful as set far back from the road . It is the perfect location for exploring Cumbria & the Yorkshire Dales . The property was superb. Everything was just as you would want it to be in a house for a large gathering. The interior feel of the house is modern and elegant. The kitchen is fully equipped and all bedrooms are comfortable with well designed ensuite facilities. WiFi is fast and stable, even with multiple users connected. Good professional approach to the whole booking by the owner.

We booked this property for a family break. We had 3 generations stay and the cottage was loved by all. There was ample space for all our little groups to entertain themselves and also to come together. The place was exceptionally clean when we arrived and the facilities were brilliant. Chris greeted us when we arrived and he went above and beyond. We had ordered groceries to the house for when we arrived, but unfortunately we were caught up in traffic. He received the delivery and even packed everything away for us, without us having to ask! He showed us around the cottage and was available for any issues we had during our stay. We could not recommend him as a host or the cottage as a fantastic place to stay. We would love to stay here again.

Absolutely perfect weekend! We stayed at Oakdene for my 40th birthday celebrations! The whole family came! The house was ideal and even better than the photos if thats possible! Ages ranged from 3 months to 60 years old and everyone loved it! The perfect spot for a group get together! We are hoping to make it an annual trip

We had another great holiday at Oakdene Country House. I would definitely recommend the house as a holiday destination for a large group. It is clean, comfortable, very well equipped and everything works. The games room was a great hit with the children and the two lounges offered welcoming space for the adults. Beds too were really comfortable. A lovely area to stay in and not as busy as the Lakes. An ideal holiday destination.

Group of 21 adults for a 60th birthday celebration week. All the rooms were spacious and the attention to detail in the dcor and comfort was outstanding. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could want. The outdoor hot tubs now with cover were well received by all. The house itself was lovely with plenty of spaces you could hide away and quietly read a book if required. All the bedrooms were large with ensuite apart from annex bedroom of 4 that boasted a HUGE bathroom. Amazing views from all windows overlooking the fields and countryside. Bonus points for lambing ewes right outside. Fairfield Mill right on doorstep which is well worth a visit. Sedbergh Golf Course was well received by our lady golfers. Don't forget your walking shoes if you decide to go for a walk into the village some parts can be muddy. Outstanding trip and loads to do in nearby surrounds. Will definitely recommend and would love to return.

Everything you would need is at hand. The house was spotless. There was no fight for the best bedroom as all of them were fabulous. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
