The Old Workshop Reviews

We celebrated our Christmas here this year. We all work in healthcare and we all were working Christmas Day, so our Christmas Day was the 27th. We stayed two nights from the 26th December. What an absolutely fantastic venue this place is! Just perfect for a little getaway, in wonderful surroundings and with perfect facilities. The entire place has had a lot of thought put into it. Very tasteful throughout. Our host, Christine, was incredibly friendly and helpful too! Would highly recommend and will definitely be booking again!
The place is stunning!
Caroline
What a beautiful stay, cosy and relaxing a lovely place and such helpful and attentive owners. Thank you for a wonderful weekend x
Simply idyllic. Had a fab few days seeing in the New Year. Hosts were excellent, great communication and recommendations for pubs and events. Location is 10 mins to Scarborough and 30 mins to Whitby with nice walks and lovely hot tub, clean and well organised, highly recommend a stay here, we loved it
Angela
This cottage lived up to all its 5 reviews. I was expecting it to be nice but it definitely exceeded all my expectations. I wouldnt normally book a cottage attached to the owners home but as the other reviews said Christine is lovely and totally leaves you to enjoy your holiday but is quick to respond when you need anything like a log refill. We will definitely return
Michele
What a beautiful, cosy hideaway! Very private but within 10 minutes of the coast, this was the perfect getaway. The log burner was on constantly and the hot tub was great after a day exploring. Owner Christine could not have been more helpful and very quick to respond to questions and supply more logs. We literally weathered Storm Amy tucked away here. Lovely accommodation, surrounded by nature.
Philippa
Absolutely stunning property and beautiful location. Close to many attractions and places to visit. Attention to detail was perfect. They had thought of everything you may need. Lovely welcome pack and extras you dont always get with these sort of holidays. Couldnt fault a thing. Highly recommend and we would love to return again.
Graham
A very well placed Cottage. Very clean and well equipped. We had a great stay.
What a fantastic place to stay. Excellent communication from Christine prior to our visit to ensure everything we needed would be available. Upon arrival we were greeted with several little extras which made us feel very welcome. The accommodation itself is beautiful, clean and comfortable with everything you need to ensure a great stay. The hot tub is a welcome addition with lots of fresh towels provided. I would highly recommend The Old Workshop to anyone who os looking for somewhere to stay in Scarborough.
Andrea
We had a lovely weekend at The Old Workshop. The property, facilities and location was spot on. Would definitely recommend.
Wish we'd stayed longer! We booked for a couple of nights while we were in Scarborough to see will smith, we wish we'd have stayed for a week. The accommodation was simply superb, beautiful surroundings, close to Scarborough and amenities, and everything was of a high standard, we loved it!
Beverley
We loved everything about the property. What a great restoration of a historical building. Great location for visiting many attractions in North Yorkshire. We were so conformable and happy here. Nice quiet peaceful location. Great views from the hot tub. We were lucky enough to see the combines and tractors at work during our time there. So well equipped with everything we could need. Christine was so helpful in her recommendations of things to see and places to visit with our disabled son. She was so kind & caring and on hand if we needed anything. We spent 2 weeks here and really enjoyed every minute. Loved the mezzanine bedroom and looking out at the view every morning without even getting out of bed! The barn was actually bigger than we expected. Would 100 recommend a stay here.
We had a great week, great location and lovely owners
Absolutely loved this place. 10 out of 10 for everything. Just wished we had booked for longer. Countryside uk hols is what we do with us having a dog. This one by far the best. Highly recommended to anyone

We loved our long weekend at The Old Workshop. It has a gorgeous rural location and is modern, clean and cosy. It is well equipped and has everything youd need. There was a lovely welcome pack of goodies for us and for our dogs too. A gated yard surrounds the entrance so its safe to let the dogs trot around outside whilst the humans can sit out or in the hot tub! There are some lovely villages to explore nearby and its not far from Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. We went to Cayton Bay which has a great dog friendly beach and walked on Flamborough Head, which was stunning. There is also a little farm shop a short walk away, open Wednesdays and Saturdays. All thoroughly recommended!
Samantha
Lovely place clean, wellequipped, and beautifully presented with an attentive host. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. Would definitely stay again! Thank you.
Victoria
The Old Workshop is stunning, great location, lovely and peaceful but within easy distance to get to all the attractions in the area. Well thought out with everything you could want, hot tub was a bonus after a long day out and about. Lots of great pubs about for good food. Christine always on hand for any needs or just to recommend a good pub. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend which we have to all our friends, we will be back. Thankyou
Beautiful, well maintained & equipped property. Set in beautiful surroundings and easy reach to Scarborough, Filey and Brindlington. One of the best properties we stayed in. Would highly recommend the Old Workshop

Neil Christopher
Great location and really peaceful. . the hot tub is a fantastic addition to the wonderful Accommodation The property is absolutely as listed with a fantastic array of facilities Great communication and would highly recommend
Damian
Great location to base yourself, whether its walking in the forest or a day at the coast. Premises were very clean and tidy, with a nice welcome. Whilst there are neighbours in the hamlet, it felt secluded enough. Hot tub was a nice feature.
We had a great stay at The Old Workshop. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you need and the lovely owner Cristine had left a few generous goodies for us. The location is perfectly out in the countryside yet only 5 minutes to the nearest village with shops and cafes and places like Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Filey further afield and the night sky from the hot tub is fabulous with very little light pollution around. Would happily return if in the area again!
The cottage was larger than expected, and we were impressed when we arrived. Everything was lovely and it was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was very enjoyable too. There was nothing we would change about it, everything we needed was provided. We will be back!
We had a fabulous time at The Workshop. It was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. The hot tub was a lovely addition as the night skies were stunning. Our hosts were incredible nothing was too much trouble. Our dogs were very impressed with the welcome and both tried to share the luxurious dog bed, even though we had brought both of theirs with us. The location of the property is prefect for seeing the beauty of Gods own County. Its so easy to reach beaches, dales, moors and woodland. We cant wait to book again for next year.
We had an excellent stay. We really liked the open plan barn and all the little touches that made our visit extra special. The hot tub was a real bonus. We will definitely recommend and be back soon

We have just returned from a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. Check inout was smooth, the property is well equipped and the hosts were responsive and kind enough to acknowledge we were visiting to celebrate a birthday. The property is peaceful and fully enclosed which put our mind at ease as we travelled with both children and dogs, the helpful touches such as high chair, cot, dog towels etc were much appreciated. The log burner made it lovely and cosy, especially as we stayed during a particularly cold spell of weather and we wouldn't hesitate to return, thanks again.
Catherine
Lovely property in a beautiful location. Hope to make a return visit soon!
Yvonne
Amazing place, absolutely stunning. Very warm and cosy, all mod cons. Fantastic hot tub, on top of the hill. Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely quality bedding and towels. Comfy beds. Massive shower room. One of best properties Ive ever stayed in. Will definitely be back.
It was a stunning location , peaceful and quiet. The only downside was we felt that the kitchen could be better equipped with additional equipment which would have been useful during our stay. A pair of oven gloves instead of one small pad, a larger frying pan as the small one was a bit limiting when cooking for 4 adults. We could not find a hand towel to use in the kitchen as there was only one tea towel which we used for washing up. Perhaps some kitchen roll or a small roll of silver foil which could be left in between guests. Also it would help if there was a few basic essential left such as salt, and pepper and a small bottle of oil to help when cooking. Another small detail perhaps a hook in the bathroom to hang up a clothes Although I know you had a chair but this was used for towels. The upstairs bedroom mezzanine was quirky and interesting , however it may be more to make that a twin room with beds positioned under the eaves either side of the room may be suitable may be more suitable for children who may no need the head room and leave the downstairs bedroom as a double. We make these comments with good intentions as we too are in the hospitality trade and understand the issues of meeting everyones needs. We must congratulate you on making a beautiful building accommodation whilst respecting its history and heritage. As we have friends living in Scarborough nearby we may well return next year.Thank you both for making our stay relaxing despite the snow and storm Bert
Lauren
Lovely accommodation and facilities. We had a fantastic stay! It was made to feel very homely, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the open plan layout and well equipped kitchen for cooking. The hot tub is a lovely touch, being able to relax and watch the stars on an evening was fantastic. Our two dogs enjoyed the place too, as well as being close to lots of lovely beaches, walks and amenities. The owners were very helpful throughout our stay too. Thank you, would definitely recommend.
Very nice stay overall couple of low points the door blinds was tricky to use ... Very nice stay overall couple of low points the door blinds was tricky to use but after working out how to use them wasnt has frustrating to use sofa was very squeaky at one side we really enjoyed all that was on offer hot tub was amazing log burner was really nice to sit around late at night blazing away also the owner was very helpful the walks with the dog in the fields was great close to local shops and amenities I felt refreshed and relaxed
Catherine
We had a great stay at The Workshop. What a beautiful place! So peaceful
Nicola
Fantastic property and a lovely weeks stay. Lovely touches by Christine and welcome pack included the 4 legged one. Weather was so nice despite the storm and wind over the weekend. Hot tub amazing and the perfect rehab after Yorkshire Marathon! Literally the only thing missing as a conscientious per owner was a hoover so we could keep on top of cleaning
We enjoyed staying at the old workshop, it was warm and comfortable, ideal for dogs and sad we didnt book longer
Jonathan
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Workshop Very clean properly with all the equipment you need to a comfortable stay. The whole property has been furnished to a high standard, you can tell that the owners take great pride in the place. The property also caters well for dogs, the treats and towels provided were very appreciated. In addition to the property itself, the surrounding area provides beautiful views, especially when relaxing in the hot tub. I would definitely book this place again and highly recommend to others looking for a peaceful break away.
Lovely property, lovely and spacious. Cleanliness was excellent. Very well equipped and so comfortable. Couldn't fault anything. We loved every minute of it. Thankyou for the little extras for us and our dog. Would definitely recommend. Definitely a 5 star property.
An amazing place to stay, so comfortable with lots to do around the area. The hot tub is 1010 for stargazing and there is a resident owl who we seen on our last night. We will be back! Lovely owners too thank you for a wonderful stay.
Michelle
Really lovely rural property in a beautiful location. The workhouse has been well designed with everything finished to a high standard. We had all the necessities we needed for our stay with the addition of a great hot tub for relaxing in the evenings. Everywhere is very clean and it is clear the owners take great care of everything and are happy to help if needed. The location is wonderful for dog owners with lots of areas to walk close by and there are plenty of dog friendly pubs near by to eat out at. Scarborough is only a short drive away. Christine was very friendly and helpful, was nice to know she was available for help if required but not imposing in any way. We would highly recommend a stay here and will certainly be back to visit again.
Amazing property in a great location. Will definitely be booking again!
Beautiful place great location would def go again highly recommend

If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 3 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP

Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
