History enthusiasts will also be interested to visit the ruins of Clitheroe Castle, which is thought to be the smallest Norman castle in England. The stylish lodge sits alongside similar holiday homes on a peaceful, adults-only glamping site.

Once inside, discover a fabulous open-plan space with a beamed ceiling, statement wallpaper, and plush soft furnishings. At one end is a sleek kitchen area for whipping up hearty breakfasts and romantic dinners for two, which you can share outside on the patio.

In the evenings, snuggle up on the comfortable sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV or read a few pages from your book. When it’s time for bed, a couple of steps lead up to a Shepherd’s hut-style, king-size bed.

Completing the accommodation is a contemporary en-suite shower room. Outside, discover a tranquil covered patio area with a BBQ stand and a choice of seating options, including a swing!

Soak in the hot tub, slip into the sauna, and cool off under the outdoor shower. You are welcome to enjoy the many on-site facilities, including a shared shed with a pizza oven and coffee machine, and a cosy cabin with a large, central fire pit.

Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 13 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 27 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 27 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY
about 28 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
