Nearby Oban (4.5 miles) has shops, cafés, restaurants and harbourfront attractions within easy reach, and you can sample fresh local shellfish on the quayside. Known as the Gateway to the Isles, the town also has excellent ferry links from South Pier to Mull, Colonsay, Tiree, Lismore and Barra, while a water taxi leaves North Pier for nearby Kerrera.

Step back in time at Dunollie Castle (5 miles) or Dunstaffnage Castle (7.5 miles). For a seaside day, pack your beach bag and head to Ganavan Sands (6 miles) or Dunbeg Beach (8 miles), where you can also explore the wonders of the marine world at the Ocean Explorer Centre.

Everything is arranged on one level, starting with the comfortable and homely open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area.
