Bring family or friends together at this beautifully renovated farmhouse, set on a hillside above the peaceful seaside village of Port William (0.5 miles). The village has local shops, a restaurant, a hotel and a charming harbour, along with a pebble beach overlooking Luce Bay, the Isle of Man, the Mull of Galloway and, on clear days, the Mourne Mountains.

Set out on local walking routes or venture to historic Whithorn (7.5 miles), harbourfront Garlieston (11.5 miles) and picturesque Portpatrick (27.5 miles). History lovers will love exploring the atmospheric ruins of Glenluce Abbey (16 miles), while green-fingered guests can admire exotic plants at Logan Botanic Garden (28.5 miles) or wander through the grounds and famous maze at Dunskey Gardens (28 miles).

Galloway Forest Park (20 miles) is a haven for stargazing, birdwatching and wildlife spotting, as well as mountain biking along the 7stanes trails. On arrival, a half-step leads through the kitchen entrance, opening into a large, sociable space where you can sit down to leisurely meals and plan tomorrow’s adventures.

The adjoining utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. In the comfy sitting room, settle beside the wood burner and admire the sea view.

One of the four bedrooms – a double – is located on the ground floor, along with a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Upstairs, you’ll find a king-size bedroom and a double that both enjoy sea views, along with a further double bedroom.
