We really enjoyed our stay! The house has been beautifully renovatedand Mark and Helen were super helpful and quick to respond whenever we needed anything. The balcony was perfect for relaxing with a drink in the evening sunshine. There are two pubs nearby, both serving good food and within walking distance. Plenty of lovely walks start right from the doorstepand if you're up for a drive, the Senwick Shore walk from Nun Mill Bay is well worth it. The hot tub was a lovely bonus too!

Fairport really feels like a cosy home away from home. The upside-down layout was interesting, with the lounge upstairs offering lovely views over the Urr estuary - perfect for relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked, making cooking easy, though we couldn’t enjoy the balcony due to the rain, I bet it’s lovely when the weather’s nicer. Everything was spotless and nicely decoratedand the beds were super comfy. We’d definitely stay again, it’s a great spot for a quiet getaway, even if the weather’s a bit rubbish!

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 12 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
