Lying in a peaceful spot surrounded by the magnificent countryside of Dumfries and Galloway, this charming property is an ideal holiday retreat for two guests enjoying a well-earned break. The cabin lies just outside Gatehouse of Fleet (1. 5 miles), a delightful town with a choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, which is also home to the fascinating visitor centre in the historic Mill on the Fleet. The immediate area has some lovely walks, with Cally Woods less than a mile away. Heading south-east, Kirkcudbright (8 miles) is known as the artists’ town, with a range of events throughout the year, or you can head north-east to Castle Douglas (13. 5 miles), a bustling 18th-century market town which is now a designated Food Town with a wealth of local produce.

About The Hideaway Gatehouse

The cabin lies just outside Gatehouse of Fleet (1.5 miles), a delightful town with a choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, which is also home to the fascinating visitor centre in the historic Mill on the Fleet.

The immediate area has some lovely walks, with Cally Woods less than a mile away. Heading south-east, Kirkcudbright (8 miles) is known as the artists’ town, with a range of events throughout the year, or you can head north-east to Castle Douglas (13.5 miles), a bustling 18th-century market town which is now a designated Food Town with a wealth of local produce.

To the north, the majestic Galloway Forest Park (15 miles) offers outdoor pursuits and miles of biking and walking trails. Entering this fresh and inviting single-level holiday home, the snug and cosy open-plan living space offers a warm welcome.

The cheerful lounge is a perfect spot for you both to unwind in at the end of a great day out, with a Smart TV and ample seating. To one side, the dining table is ideal for sharing a romantic meal, which you can rustle up in the elegantly arranged and fully equipped kitchen area.

When it's time to retire for the night, a sumptuous king-size bed awaits. The property also features a light and refreshing shower room.

Stepping outside, the cheery garden has a sweet patio with outdoor furniture, offering a peaceful spot for a morning coffee or a wee dram in the evening, or you can settle back and luxuriate in the soothing hot tub. Parking is available for one car, along with bike storage, and there's also a useful laundry room, which is shared with the other properties on-site.

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 8 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 22 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
