21 Meadow Retreat Reviews

Fantastic stay at this lodge. Location is excellent very near to Looe, Fowey and Polperro but super quiet with the only thing to hear being the birds. The lodge itself was great, really private and super clean.
First of all, Sykes' customer service was excellent and they addressed our concerns quickly and without hesitation. The lodge itself was private, comfortable and we enjoyed our stay overall. However, several maintenance issues mean we wouldn't return to this particular lodge. The hot tub was the biggest disappointment most of the jets barely worked, and by the end of our stay it stopped working completely and tripped the power to the lodge. The drinks fridge and ensuite shower were also not working, several light bulbs had blown, the outdoor dining table was damaged with corroded and broken legs, and the toilet flushes required excessive force to operate. Some general wear and tear is expected in a dog and childfriendly property, but at this price we would expect the facilities and amenities to be properly maintained and fully functional. The lodge was clean inside, although the decking would benefit from a thorough jet wash. Southern Halt is a beautiful site with friendly staff, and we would happily return to the park. Unfortunately, due to the maintenance issues, we wouldn't choose Lodge 21 again.
Wonderful lodge, had a very comfortable stay, lodge was clean, and had a lovely fresh smell on arrival. Nice quiet site, not overlooked and a lovely hot tub to relax in which was maintained daily. Would definitely book again. Very impressed with communication during a water outage, bottles of water were brought to us twice, and regular updates with a telephone call to confirm services resumed, which was much appreciated. Minor issues, plates, bowls , mugs, glasses and cutlery were not clean, there was food residue on several items, had to wash them before we could use them. Wine cooler was out of order. Overall, a 5 star break in a lovely quiet area, short walk to local pub, easy access to surrounding areas.
Had a fantastic weekend absolutely what we needed chilled quiet Nice walks for ... Had a fantastic weekend absolutely what we needed chilled quiet Nice walks for the dogs Comfortable bed Everything in kitchen provided superb
We had a lovely stay at the lodge. It was very well equipped and clean. The hot tub was great, we kept the setting to 36 as it felt too hot when set any higher. The decking area is very spacious, with table and chairs, sun beds and would be great in better weather. We had a lot of rain The leather sofas are showing signs of wear and tear and a few stains. The dining chairs are also showing signs of wear. We had an issue with the double bed which was creaking when sat on or when moving whilst sleeping during the night. This would wake my husband up The shower screen could do with a good clean at the bottom and around the slider wheels. All said and done this most certainly didnt spoil our stay and we would recommend this lodge.
This is the second time we have stayed and absolutely love it, I was here with my 91 year old mother and visited my son and family who live in Launceston. It's a lovely spacious property with everything need, warm and comfortable and private with beautiful views. I would highly recommend it and I wouldn't stay anywhere else now .

The lodge was perfect. The communications before during and after our stay have been exceptional. The only one improvement would be the ensuite shower head probably need descaling but other than that everything was brilliant. Thank you.

We loved our stay and it really felt like home away from home the kitchen is super well equipped which was really appreciated. The plants in the pond are very overgrown and different from the photos but we actually liked it because we had full privacy from the other lodges. There were some spider webs that could have been removed from a few spots inside and outside i.e. the side gate, and the support for bathroom stuff in the suite shower is very rusty and could be replaced. Apart from that we really enjoyed everything and wished we could stay longer!
It was a shame that the photos of the outside did not reflect reality. The photos need updating as they show the lake, which now cannot be seen due to overgrown reeds.
Loved the Lodge and decor inside. Had everything we needed. Would definitely rent again.
Callum
Fantastic, we came to one of the lodges last year also and begin on looking at making this a yearly visit, so peaceful beautiful setting and well kept, being November also still so amazing in the winter!
Nathan
We have just returned from a 4 days break at 21 Meadow Retreat. We have had an absolutely fantastic week in this beautiful Lodge, Would highly recommend and can't wait to come and visit again, Everything was perfect
Amanda
Bins are asked to be emptied on departure. There are no skipsrubbish collection points near the cabin to put the black bags in. There could be rubbish collection points near by. We shouldn't be expected to use our cars to dump rubbish. The surrounding area was overgrown but the stay itself was quiet and very nice.
Our second stay at this site and first time in number 21. A great property in a position creating good privacy especially when using the hot tub. Everything you needed inside, well equipped kitchen with loads of space, great WiFi and good tv reception which was much needed for Euro 24 watching. Nice to have the choice of two different tables to eat at outside and many an afternoon spent lying on the sun loungers as the weather was brilliant! Good location to get out and visit places like Fowey, we will definitely return.

Weve had an amazing week at 21 meadow retreat. Everything we needed. Southernhalt is a beautiful site. So peaceful and well looked after. We will definitely be back
We love coming back to Meadow Retreat, it's always so quiet and sedate, just what we need to unwind. We will be back.
Excellent property, exactly what it said in the brochure, spotlessly clean fantastic location, perfect holiday
Our family holiday at 21 Meadow Retreat was everything we hopped it would be. Clean and comfortable. Beautiful views. Lovely location for walking our dog. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and open plan living. We'll be sure to return in the future.
Excellent property. Very well laid out site with plenty of open spaces. Spacious lodge, very well fitted out. Lots of space outside on the deck Good hot tub, although its proximity to the glass surrounding the deck made it awkward to lift the top off it
21 Meadow Retreat is the perfect lodge to relax. Great Hot tub maintained daily by a friendly and polite team. Lodge is clean and well equipped, with double and twin beds which both open on to the Decking and duck pond. Charteroak Team are amazing ensuring guest care is paramount. A Power Cut as result of Storm Henk galvanised them into action offering a lodge at their sister site. This is just one of many reasons we keep returning.
Lovely place. well appointed kitchen. Nice outdoor seating by pond. Reasonably secluded. Only small criticism is that the bath was to slow draining to shower in .the shower in the ensuite was fine though.
We had a fantastic weekend at 21 Meadow Retreat, it was such an enjoyable, relaxing, comfortable, and peaceful stay. The large hot tub was amazing, being well maintained daily and located in a secluded position with easy access from all the rooms. The lodge is located on a great plot, with huge wrap around south facing decking with wonderful scenic views. A superbly appointed master bedroom suite was complimented by a twin bedroom with long and comfortable beds. It has a very wellequipped kitchen with an enormous countertop making the openplan main room such a sociable space. The booking process with Sykes Cottages was very smooth. The Southern Halt customer communication has significantly improved since our last stay with the benefit of the onsite office. Cannot wait to stay again!

We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing pleasant stay at 21 Meadow Retreat. The property itself must have one of the best locations for privacy, the hot tub is a lovely addition which isn't overlooked. Customer service is exceptional contacting us prior to our stay, during our holiday & after our return to ensure we had an enjoyable time.
Fantastic Lodge with everything to make a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Customer Service was 1010 Tracey was outstanding ensuring our needs were met. The hotub was serviced daily. If we could change anything it would be the two sofas as they are not the most comfortable. 21 Meadow Retreat looks over fields set in a quiet area not far from village of Dobwalls, close to the moors, with added benefit of being dog friendly. The Old Mill Restaurant situated at the sister site in Lanreath 15mins by car is well worth a visit. Fantastic food and service from Amanda and Tyler. Looking forward to returning for Christmas.
Overall presentation was good, around the edges things looked a little bit tired, ready for a bit of modernisation especially in the showers . We had to do a bit of cleaning around the kitchen area but thats just us. Trees and bushes at the back of the lodge could do with a good trim to give better views from the decking area and a brush to sweep the leaves away . Bit picky but at that price we have had better equipped lodges in Cornwall. Having said that we had a fantastic time.
The lodge is really good. I like the soft furnishings and well equipped kitchen. The numerous opening doors makes the outdoor indoor feel work well. The decking had several different options for seating and sun bathing . The hot tub was clean, large and was used daily. We enjoyed our stay very much. My only comment would be that the duvet on the main bed was too heavy for the time of year.a summer option would have helped. A small point in a great property.
Nice cottage with wonderful terrace, but the cleanliness was poor. The facilities in the kitchen was fine. Hot tube was clean, but both sofas in the living room were really dirty, we had to clean them ourselve before it was possible to use.
Stephanie
Stay twice a yr every yr at both southern halt and stonerush this is by far my best stay beautifully situated lodge very clean did not want for a thing hot tub was amazing compared to others Ive been in definitely booking for next yr only disappointment was the fact I had to come home.
Fantastic Lodge in a quiet location with great views. Charteroak Team are first class always willing to help even when looking for a local florist. Hot Tub was checked daily and provided a relaxing end to the day with the ducks in the adjacent pond. Simply Perfect, cannot wait to return later in the year.
Charlotte
Exceptional location, the lodge was extremely clean and the views were fantastic. Extremely peaceful. Would highly recommend. This is our 5th time staying at Southern Halt and 21 MR was our favourite lodge and holiday so far. One little niggle would be that we choose Southern Halt for the views from the lodge and hottub, however there are a number of bushes now overgrowing in front of the lodge and blocking the wonderful views. It doesn't make sense, I would definitely cut these back. Overall it was wonderful
Stuart
Overall cleanliness of lodge and site very good. We all enjoyed the stay very much.
Perfectly positioned property in a well kept quiet area, facilities are fantastic so well kitted out. We had everything we needed and will be definitely returning.
Really comfy, well equipped and well situated property. All in working order with the exception of the wine cooler which refused to decrease the temperature. Some nice touches, including books, a game and welcome pack but no DVD player.
