We were impressed with how spacious the lodge was, with plenty of comfy seating for the whole family. The beds were comfy, although one of the twin beds was very rockety. It was so good to have proper sized bath towels, compared to some small ones other places provide and 3 airers to dry towels swimwear washing. We enjoyed the spacious decking with shady areas as well as sunny ones. The site was so peaceful, we felt truly rested. We also found customer relations really helpful, if we had an issue or question, we'd email Sally at Charteroaks lodges, and they were quick to sort the problem. Our only points for improvement would be Storage for food. There was only 1 small cupboard next to the fridge for food, all other cupboards had crockery or utensils. We ended up using the kitchen counter to store food and drink. Water pressure. It took ages to fill the bath, or to wash our long hair in the shower! limited utensils no sieve, no grill rack for grill pan so couldn't use the grill, and the biggest pan was a tad on the small size to fit in a family portion of pasta or potatoes.

Booked only 1 month to arrival. Excellent booking and info. Accommodation is excellent bright airy clean Hot Tub so good and checked everyday by the hot tub staff Grounds around the lodge are clean tidy grass cut and neat. Nice to see duck and moor hens Hope to go back soon

5 Meadow Retreat was absolutely lovely, the cabin was very clean and felt homely as soon as we walked through the door. There is nothing I can fault the cabin on there was lots of space, great ammenities, the heating was amazing on the colder days and overall it was perfect. The hot tub was also great, it could do with a cover or parasol for the rainy days but it was lovely none the less.

We thought the lodge was lovely in a beautiful setting. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The sofas were also very comfortable and roomy. The bathrooms were well equipped with rain showers and fluffy towels. The overall cleanliness was let down by dirty kitchen utensils and cupboards. One pan lid was mouldy! I was glad there was a dishwasher. The work surfaces could use a little varnish. It would make a big difference. It was also difficult to open the key holder on arrival and impossible when we left in the rain. We had to leave the key out. I would stay again, but would hope to see these problems addressed.

We could not fault anything from the booking service to the customer care from Sykes Holiday Cottages. The description of 5, Meadow Retreat was accurate and all photos current. We would highly recommend using Sykes Holiday Cottages to others and will use them again for our next uk holiday!

It went beyond our expectations, the accommodation was much bigger than the photos showed. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of white fluffy towels and gowns, snuggly leather sofas, easy to use hob and cooker, lots of mugs and crockery, 3 clothes airers for drying all the towels after showering and hot tub. Lots of cleaning equipment available for use. Safe for small children and tiny dogs, gorgeous views and very quiet, especially at night. Even the lodge itself was sound proofed, so that when babies went to bed it was difficult to hear them and vice versa. On site staff were very friendly and helpful, including the hot tub management team who visited daily. Everything was spotlessly clean, can highly recommend for a most enjoyable holiday, a credit to the owners and site staff. The site was perfectly located between north and south Cornish coast. Absolutely loved our 4th stay at Southern Halt, this time in 5 Meadow Retreat. Cant fault the site or team who look after it & the beautiful Lodges. Just what we look for as a fabulous base to explore Cornwall. Everything in the Lodge that you need to be home from home. So a big thankyou from us & we look forward to another visit in 2026

Our stay in No. 5 Meadow Retreat was amazing. Everything about this place is superb. Great location for exploring, the grounds were immaculate, hot tub was a welcome bonus after a long day mooching, and the lodge was stunning. Our only criticism would be the gap either side of the entrance gate as our little dog could escape. Truly enjoyable stay and we will be back. Thank you

Really enjoyed staying here. One of my favourite places. Super cosy lots to do around you also. The hot tub was amazing and I noticed in the mornings the hot tub would be checked and sorted if needed which I thought was lovely. Dog friendly which is lush no one left behind! Lush dog walks around the area aswell!

Lovely comfortable lodge, beautiful surrounding, very relaxing stay. Definitely will be returning. Only a minor problem not a big issue. No tin opener or cheese grater.

Super lodge and a great base for our family holiday in Cornwall. We loved the hot tub and the living room kitchen space was bigger than we expected. The lodge was very clean on arrival and the beds were comfortable. It's a very quiet and relaxing setting. Will definitely return. Ps. We loved the large mugs

Smaller tea coffee cups its like drinking out of a bucket. Had to request a chopping board it looked like previous customers didnt bother and scratched your work tops. It was beautifully appointed and spotless clean best ever Holiday place Ive stayed in. You could have made the holiday complete and ordered a bit of sunshine !!

Our property was absolutely wonderful . ...very clean and comfortable .We completely relaxed and all facilities were in a very new condition ....everything you could wish for ...we cooked every night because there was no need to go out...with the hot tub and card games and a nice gt we were all very happy....

Lovely quiet area and very peaceful. The hot tub got used every night! A fan is the only thing that would be useful to have available as it gets hot in the rooms in summer time. Apart from that we could not fault the place for comfort.

A fabulous lodge. Clean and as expected. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back. The hot tub was a first for us but brilliant. Set in a great location and very quite. My only negative, and I suppose not really a negative, more of what could be improved, is the lack of a fan. We were lucky in that the weather was fantastic. The lodge unfortunately was like a greenhouse. A free standing fan for the bedroom would have been welcomed. Having said that it wouldnt stop us returning.
