An inviting glamping hideaway, this geodesic dome in West Cornwall makes a superb retreat for couples who enjoy the great outdoors. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom abode is set on a leafy site near Ashton, 2.5 miles from Porthleven and 3.5 miles from Helston.
Head into the colourful town to explore independent shops and galleries and shops featuring the work of local artists and makers. Discover the museum, then pause for a bite to eat in a cafe or pub.
If you visit in May, see how the town comes alive for Flora Day. Head down to the coast at tranquil Rinsey Cove or sandy Hendra Beach to swim, snorkel and picnic.
While you are here, you can also strike out along a section of the South West Coast Path. Visit the National Trust’s Godolphin, 3.5 miles away, where you can wander the medieval gardens and enjoy the countryside estate.
Step up onto the wooden deck surrounding your remarkable retreat. Enter the accommodation itself via the rear of the dome.
Find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom where you will immediately feel at home. Light the wood burner to warm the cosy space.
Prepare a light snack in the cooking area, then relax in a comfortable chair to chat about your day and make more exciting plans for tomorrow. You also have a Smart TV in here so you can stream your favourite shows.
When you are ready to rest your head on your plump pillow, make your way over to the king-size bed. Before going to sleep, look up through the clear roof to see if you can identify the twinkling stars in the dark sky above you.
You also have a private, outdoor kitchen where you can prepare tasty meals out in the fresh air. Guests staying at the dome have a private shower room, with a WC, 20 metres away.
