About Goodleigh House

Located on the tranquil outskirts of Winkleigh, this charming longhouse awaits, promising a quintessential countryside escape in the heart of rural Devon. With its traditional styling, wooden beams and games room, the property bursts with history and character, providing a wonderful stay for friends and family.

Stepping inside brings you into the lounge. Here, you'll find comfortable seating along with a warming wood burner and a Smart TV, the perfect combination for a movie night.

In the fun-filled conservatory, you'll find a pool table and dartboard. Heading back through the home, the contemporary kitchen has everything you'll need for culinary creativity, including a large island where you can pull up a chair and enjoy a morning coffee while admiring the view over the garden through the bifold doors.

At the rear entrance, you'll find a handy entrance hall with space for coats and boots. The house also features a separate dining room with a wood burner, allowing you to enjoy laid-back meals with loved ones.

Completing the ground floor is a bathroom, which can also be accessed from the first floor. You'll discover five bedrooms on the first floor, along with a further family bathroom.

The bedrooms consist of two super-king-size zip-and-link rooms (convertible to twins on request) and three double bedrooms, all of which are very spacious. Heading outside, you're treated to private grounds surrounding the home, complete with outdoor seating for al fresco drinks, dining and a private hot tub.

Explore the village of Winkleigh with its quaint pubs and traditional tea rooms, where you can indulge in delicious homemade treats and mingle with friendly locals. For outdoor enthusiasts, nearby Dartmoor National Park (10 miles) beckons with its rugged landscapes and scenic hiking trails.

You are also never too far from the sun-kissed beaches and turquoise waters along the North Devon coast, including hotspots such as Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, and Woolacombe, all providing golden sands and coastal eateries within 30 miles of your door. For a change of pace, take a day trip to the cathedral city of Exeter (22 miles), which hosts a wide choice of shops, cafes and restaurants to tempt you in.

Wonderful stay in a luxurious cottage with a stunning kitchen. Plenty of space for all 10 guests and great location to plenty of places to explore.

Visited over New Year, all 10 guests loved it. Ideal for walk to the pub and small village. Comfortable spacious bedrooms and the kids and adults enjoyed the games room.

Loved this gorgeous cottage, all the bedrooms were super comfy. Lots of space for everyone with the 2 living rooms and large dinning room. Located near to Winkleigh village within walking distance to great pub with excellent food and cafe at the cider farm. Would recommend as a special place to stay with family and friends.

As well as gorgeous scenery, picnic areas and plenty of space for children to play the park offers a Play Area, Tea Room serving local produce, a Petting Zoo where little ones will love meeting the affectionate animals and Nature tTails. There is also a Play Area.
The Donkey Sanctuary - EX10 0NU

Exmoor Zoo is described as a "family zoo" on their website and it certainly makes a great day out for families.  There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings.  Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast".  There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga.  As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.
