You’ll be perfectly placed for exploring North Devon’s dramatic coastline, with the South West Coast Path joinable 1.5 miles away for soul-soothing clifftop walks.

Hartland Quay (2.5 miles) has striking rock formations and sweeping Atlantic views. At Hartland Point and Lighthouse (3 miles), the Bristol Channel meets the Atlantic, while Speke’s Mill Mouth and waterfall (4 miles) reward walkers with sandy stretches at low tide.

Youngsters will love exploring the rock pools at Bucks Mills Beach (9 miles), which is also ideal for leisurely picnics. Hartland village (2 miles) has traditional shops and pubs, and Clovelly (6 miles) charms with its cobbled streets and harbour.

The Milky Way Adventure Park (16 miles) and Bude with Crooklets Beach (22 miles) both make rewarding day trips. Inside, the property is arranged mainly on one level with a characterful mezzanine floor overlooking the living space.

The open-plan living, comprising lounge, kitchen and diner, feels bright and sociable to spend time in. It a breakfast bar with stools, comfortable sofas, a Smart TV and a large window so you can absorb the countryside vistas.

The kitchen area has everything you need for cooking up tasty holiday meals – there’s even a drinks fridge for chilled beverages. Along the hallway you’ll find the family bathroom with a bath and WC, plus a restful super-king-size bedroom (zip-and-link beds mean it’s easy to switch up the sleeping arrangements with prior notice).

Climb up to the mezzanine where you’ll discover a cosy double bedroom tucked beneath the eaves – a lovely spot to retreat after a day on the coast. In good weather, make the most of the private patio complete with outdoor seating – perfect for morning coffee or al fresco dinners.

There are four major rides including a thrilling roller coaster and an amazing vertical slide for the older kids and grown ups and six fascinating live shows which will entertain the whole family. During your visit you can enjoy bird of prey experiences, find your way out of the maze and feed and cuddle the baby animals.

Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park  is a big hit with families and has a wonderful setting within 26 acres of Sub Tropical grounds. During a stroll around the site you will encounter so of the worlds most endangered animals and also take a peek back to prehistoric times when Dinosaurs roamed the earth. The park is home to the worlds only full size animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex as well as Lions, Wolves, Sea Lions, Meerkats and many other species, Top attractions include the amazing Sea Lion Shows, Falconry Display and Sea Lion Swims.

Tintagel Castle is one of the most iconic landmarks in Cornwall and is an excellent place for a family day out. Situated on the stunning Cornish Coast the Castle has a mystical and magical presence and is steeped in historical importance. Indeed the Legend of King Arthur was born right here. The Castle and grounds also provide a home for many species of wildlife as well as some amazing flora and fauna. The site also has a small visitor's centre with souvenir shop and a wonderful Beach Café.

The site has a wonderful Café serving home cooked meals, a fun Soft Play Area for younger children, an Agility Course for older kids and several Nature Trails for the family to explore together. The site also displays working and static exhibits of Steam Engines as well as old Fairground Rides so is educational as well as fun!
Trethorne Leisure Park - PL15 8QE

Trethrone Leisure Park in Cornwall is a popular choice for a family day out and offers an excellent programme of activities for children all year round. The park has a farm area where younger kids will love feeding the lambs and other friendly animals. Pony rides, a large play area, ball pool; trampolines and crazy golf are also available.

Exmoor Zoo is described as a "family zoo" on their website and it certainly makes a great day out for families.  There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings.  Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast".  There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga.  As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.
