Within 20 miles, you’ll find famous day-out favourites including Glastonbury Tor, the mysterious cave networks of Wookey Hole, the shops and museums of Taunton, and the rolling landscapes of the Quantock Hills National Landscape. For a day by the sea, head to Burnham-on-Sea (21 miles), home to one of Europe’s longest sandy beaches.
A brilliant all-weather option for families is the Fleet Air Arm Museum (11 miles), where you can get up close to historic aircraft and even see inside the Concorde. Climb three external steps to enter this welcoming retreat, where you can enjoy the ease of single-storey living inside.
