Coach House is a charming retreat situated in a stunning but hidden part of Wales, nestled into the foothills of the Cambrian mountains, which recently featured in a BBC documentary called “the last wilderness of Wales”. Here, you have all the beauty of neighbouring national parks but without the crowds. Yet, we are within driving distance of the coast of Aberaeron for whale watching, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, a slightly short drive to the dark sky zone of the Elan Valley (although our skies are equally dark), and wild swimming in Abergwesyn.

About Coach House

Coach House is a charming retreat situated in a stunning but hidden part of Wales, nestled into the foothills of the Cambrian mountains, which recently featured in a BBC documentary called “the last wilderness of Wales”. Here, you have all the beauty of neighbouring national parks but without the crowds.

Yet, we are within driving distance of the coast of Aberaeron for whale watching, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, a slightly short drive to the dark sky zone of the Elan Valley (although our skies are equally dark), and wild swimming in Abergwesyn. But being located inside the Lofftwen Forest Farm Ecological Project, there is no need to get in the car with private access to 320 acres of restoring wildlife habitat to explore from your doorstep, and many miles of rarely travelled footpaths and bridleways beyond, all bristling with nature and stunning views.

And because every penny you spend here is reinvested back into the Lofftwen Project, your stay at the Coach House will have directly contributed to restoring the habitats you are walking through. Despite feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere, local shops, pubs, train station and an award-winning restaurant are only a short walk along a grassy track.

It’s the best of all worlds. With off-road parking for four cars, partial ground-floor living, two woodburning stoves, a games room, wood fired hot tub, and welcoming two well-behaved pets, this delightful property is perfect for families or friends seeking a tranquil escape amidst breathtaking natural beauty.

Park up the cars outside this large countryside abode, a former Victorian Coach House and laundry built in the Arts and Crafts tradition. The heart of the home is the kitchen/diner, fully equipped for all your culinary needs.

Adjacent to this, the dining room comfortably seats ten guests, making it the perfect spot for enjoying home-cooked meals. The characterful sitting room, complete with comfy sofas, Smart TV and woodburning stove, provides a warm space for relaxation.

Coach House Reviews

This was the most perfect country retreat we could have wished for. Upon arriving at 1930, the house was lovely and warm. We got our bags in from the car before making a quick supper in the well equipped kitchen. The garden outside the back door was secure for the dogs and our teenage daughters loved the wood fired log burner. All of the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are beautiful. The only thing missing was a little welcome baskethamper upon arrival which the majority of other hosts provide. If you want to relax in the countryside, then this place is definitely worth it.
Lovely well equipped property, very comfortable. Ideal for a large family to share. Good location. Excellent communication with the host.
Good overall condition apart from lots of cobwebs and spiders. No vacuum cleaner. A few bulbs out throughout the house. The hot tub took far too long to fill and heat not usable for a short stay, and not enough wood supplied to heat it. Apart from these minor issues, an enjoyable stay. Would stay again.
Absolutely amazing! Loved this place so much.

When the weather is nice this attraction is perfect as you can wander around and admire the superb range of exotic trees and shrubs.  They look different at different times of the year but one of the most popular times to see them is in Autumn.  With various events throughout the year such as Apple Weekend there is always something new to experience.  You can watch a 90 second film about this attraction on their website which is excellent.
