This picturesque area is famed for its relaxed pace and wonderful walks in all directions. The Crickhowell Walking Festival is a highlight of the local calendar every March. This is an excellent area for cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, caving and more. Nearby attractions include the Brecon Beacons National Park, Craig-y-Nos Country Park, the Brecon Mountain Railway, South Wales Borderers Museum and The National Showcaves of Wales. Other events include the Hay Festival of Literature and the Brecon Jazz Festival. You can visit some of the many historic houses, gardens and castle, with Tretower Court and Castle less than 3 miles away.

About Mawr Dew Cottage

This is an excellent area for cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, caving and more. Nearby attractions include the Brecon Beacons National Park, Craig-y-Nos Country Park, the Brecon Mountain Railway, South Wales Borderers Museum and The National Showcaves of Wales.

Other events include the Hay Festival of Literature and the Brecon Jazz Festival. You can visit some of the many historic houses, gardens and castle, with Tretower Court and Castle less than 3 miles away.

On entering this delightful and spacious traditional property, which retains much original charm and character with original oak beams, exposed stone and wooden flooring, you will find yourself in the bright and welcoming open-plan lounge/diner, which is tastefully furnished and complete with TV, DVD and CD player. You will find an attractive dining area, and the elegantly designed kitchen which is reached by a number of steps, this area is fully equipped with oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Just off the kitchen you will find a handy shower room with WC. Heading upstairs you will find two comfy bedrooms, the first is the spacious double room and just along the landing is the further triple bedroom.

You will also find a bathroom complete with shower over the bath and WC.

Cantref Adventure Farm - LD3 8LR
about 7 Miles
Cantref Adventure Farm offers hours of indoor and outdoor fun for the whole family. Inside there is a huge soft play area with a separate area for toddlers as well as ball pools, climbing frames, slides and chutes. The Cannon balls are a big hit with children of all ages. New for 2010 is the Badgers quest interactive maze. Outside there is a play area, large boating lake with paddle boats, nature trails with clues and quizzes and an agility course. At only £29.00 for a family of 4 the park offers outstanding value for money.
Lama Trekking at Old king Street Farm - NP16 6AA

Lamas are gentle, affectionate and unique animals and Lama Trekking is fast becoming a popular family attraction. At Old king Street Farm you can spend the day with the charming creatures and enjoy feeding them, grooming them and having a stroll through the woodland. Lamas are not ridden but they can carry all the picnic essentials including tables and chairs! Lama Treks around the stunning Black Mountains are also available. 
Rhondda Heritage Park - CF37 2NP

Rhondda Heritage Park is located at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery and is a popular attraction with a range of facilities including a visitor centre, an art gallery, a gift shop, and a lovely period re-constructed Village Street.  Fully guided tours are available and include multimedia presentations as well as a unique trip underground where visitors will experience the life of a coal miner. The site also boasts a children's play area and an underground experience zone.
Queenswood Country Park - HR6 0PY

Queenswood Country Park has a stunning location offering panoramic views of the countryside. The area is abundant with wildlife and you can see how many species you can spot while enjoying the nature trails. The park also has a large children play area and a licensed café. Seasonal activities can be enjoyed during school holidays and at peak times of the year including Halloween events and crafting sessions as well as ranger led walks.
Puzzlewood - GL16 8QB

Puzzlewood is a somewhat unique attraction within the beautiful Forest of Dean. Visitors can explore the mile of pathways passing over wooden bridges and through some stunning tree and rock formations. The maze of pathways are quite enchanting and the site has recently been used as a location for the BBC1 production of Merlin. While enjoying the splendour of nature there are many types of wildlife to meet along the way including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland Cattle. A Hocus Pokus Halloween event takes place from the 24th to the 31st of October.
