About Kingfisher Lodge

This cedar lodge sits on the shore of a secluded lake on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, with views across the water from every room. This charming retreat suits couples seeking privacy, stillness, and the open Suffolk countryside on their doorstep.

The lake is well stocked with roach, tench, perch, pike, and carp, and fishing is available directly from the lodge's own deck. Just 4 miles away, the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum tells the story of the American air forces stationed here during WW2.

The market town of Diss and its lakeside Mere lie 8 miles away, while Bressingham Steam and Gardens, combining steam trains and planted grounds, is 10 miles away. Visit Framlingham Castle, a classic English castle with great views, or head over to bustling Banham Zoo, home to over 1,000 animals, both within 12 miles.

An open-plan living space brings the kitchen, lounge, and dining area together under one roof, with wide views across the lake. The sitting area is arranged around a Smart TV with DVD, while the kitchen is well set up for self-catering.

French doors open from the bedroom onto the lakeside deck, linking the indoors to the water beyond. The super-king-size bedroom lies just beyond the living area.

Reached directly from the bedroom, the bathroom features a freestanding stone bath alongside a generous walk-in shower, WC and its own pair of French doors leading out to a separate decked area providing a direct route to the outdoor facilities beyond. Bathrobes, towels, and bed linen are all provided, and beds are made up ready for arrival.

The lodge is built from cedar, and every room benefits from views over the lake, giving the whole interior a strong connection to its setting. A lakeside deck extends from the living area with patio furniture for al fresco dining.

Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 12 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 14 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 17 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 20 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 20 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 23 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 24 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Ickworth House, Park & Gardens - IP29 5QE
