While staying in this delightful village, head out on adventures to Thetford Forest (7 miles) to spot deer, monk jacks, red kites, herons and several historic sites, including ruins of a medieval castle.
Nature reserves are dotted all around this special part of Norfolk, with Foxley Wood, Weeting Heath and RSPB Lakenheath Fen all within 20 miles. There’s a local golf course within 2 miles, then you can potter into Mattishall for a coffee stop and a look around the local shops.
Round off your energetic days with a meal at the traditional pub, which is just 2 miles from the cottage. Arrive at this one-bedroom period property and enter via a stable door to the kitchen which leads to open-plan Lounge/diner, which is thoughtfully decorated in a traditional style.
Boasting towering oak beams, a rustic fireplace and homely decor, this is a truly cosy room to snuggle up in. Gather in front of the TV, kick back on the padded sofas, and start the Smoke-effect electric wood burner.
The kitchen is fitted with everything you need to cook up a banquet, including an electric oven and a gas hob. Sit at the table and enjoy a meal together after a busy day.
Once bedtime calls, you can head upstairs and slip into the super-king-size bed, where the vaulted ceiling and stacks of light are sure to enchant you. Use the en-suite bathroom up here to refresh.
Outside the holiday home is a well-appointed enclosed patio with dining furniture and a BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining. There is shared use of a hot tub, the lawns and a paddock.
