Fishing Lodges with Hot Tubs Lincolnshire: 6 Lakeside Picks

Six real lakeside lodges with private hot tubs near Lincoln, Woodhall Spa and the Wolds, all dog friendly. Rod licence prices, lake rules and days out.

A lakeside lodge lets you fish off the bank at dawn and be in the hot tub ten steps later

Picture it. Mist lifting off flat water at six in the morning, a bite alarm chirping, a mug of tea going cold on the decking. Then, once the sun’s properly up and the carp have gone quiet, you peel off the waders and climb straight into your own private hot tub, still within sight of the rods.

That’s the whole appeal of a lakeside fishing break in Lincolnshire, and the county does it better than most. Old gravel pits and farm lakes are scattered across the flat countryside south of Lincoln and up into the Wolds, and a handful of small holiday parks have built timber cabins right on their banks. We’ve picked six real lakeside stays below, from a cosy cabin for four to a holiday lodge sleeping twelve, and set out what each allows. If you’d rather browse every property in the county, our Lincolnshire hot tub cottages page lists the lot.

Where are the fishing lodges with hot tubs Lincolnshire anglers book?

They cluster in three parts of Lincolnshire, and each one suits a slightly different getaway.

  • Thorpe-on-the-Hill, 6 miles south-west of Lincoln. Thorpe Park Lodges is a small holiday park of about 30 lodges on seven acres, with a stocked fishing lake that guests can use free and a 9-hole golf course next door. It sits alongside Whisby Nature Park, so the walking is on the doorstep too.
  • Woodhall Spa, in the middle of the county. Woodhall Country Park has three well stocked lakes holding carp, roach, rudd and bream, set in 80 acres of woodland. Fishing is for lodge guests and day pass holders, and a footpath opened in 2025 walks you into the village.
  • The edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Further north, near North Thoresby and Ashby cum Fenby, the stays are fewer and more peaceful, with private farm lakes and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (now the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape) a few miles away.

Pick Thorpe for a city break with a rod in the boot. Pick Woodhall Spa for a proper fishing holiday with a pub to walk to. Pick the Wolds to escape everyone.

Pet friendly fishing breaks: which stays take dogs?

Good news if the dog comes everywhere: all six of our picks take pets, and every one has a private hot tub and space outside to relax.

Lakes have their own rules, though. Woodhall Country Park asks for dogs on a lead around the water at all times, to protect wildlife and other anglers. At Whisby Nature Park next to Thorpe, dogs go on a short lead and can only run off lead around Thorpe Lake, and they aren’t allowed to swim because of algae. Pack a long line and a towel.

If a fenced garden matters more than a lake, our guide to dog friendly lodges with a hot tub and enclosed garden has more.

Rod licence, close season and fishery rules

Everyone aged 13 or over needs a rod licence to fish in England, even on a private fishing lake that comes with your accommodation. Juniors aged 13 to 16 get one free. You can buy it online from GOV.UK up to 30 days before it starts, and it takes about five minutes.

Licence (trout and coarse) Rods Price
1 day Up to 2 £7.30
8 days (a week’s fishing break) Up to 2 £14.70
12 months Up to 2 £36.80
12 months Up to 3 £55.30
12 months, aged 66+ or disabled Up to 2 £24.50
Junior, 13 to 16 Any Free

These are the GOV.UK rates for 2026 and they can change, so check before you buy.

What about the close season? The Environment Agency’s coarse close season runs from 15 March to 15 June, but it applies to rivers, streams and drains, not to most stillwaters. A spring lodge break on a private lake is usually fine, subject to the fishery’s own rules.

And those rules vary. At Woodhall Country Park, for example, you’ll find:

  • barbless hooks only
  • unhooking mats compulsory
  • a maximum of three rods per angler
  • no night fishing, and every fish goes back

Expect something similar on most holiday park waters, and ask about bait bans when you book. With self catering you’ll be cooking for yourselves anyway, so keep the bait well away from the breakfast.

Days out when the fish aren’t biting

Not everyone wants to stare at a float for eight hours. Fair enough, there’s more to a Lincolnshire holiday than angling.

From Thorpe-on-the-Hill, the city is about 6 miles away. Climb Steep Hill to the cathedral and the castle walls, then come back for an evening session. Closer still, Whisby Nature Park is run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust on old gravel pits that nature has taken back, with six waymarked trails from 1.2 to 3 miles, a boardwalk café and parking at £3 in summer, £2 in winter.

Woodhall Spa has its own oddity. The Kinema in the Woods opened in a former sports pavilion in 1922 and is the only working cinema in the UK still using back projection, and the front rows used to be deckchairs! Four miles south, the 130ft brick tower of Tattershall Castle, built in the 1440s and now looked after by the National Trust, gives you views for miles over the flat Lincolnshire countryside.

Up at North Thoresby you’re on the doorstep of the Wolds, with chalk hills, tranquil lanes and the coast at Mablethorpe about 22 miles off. Skegness, with its pier and sands, is further down the same coast.

Before you book a fishing break: a quick checklist

  • Is the lake on site, or a drive away? “Near fishing” and “on a lake” aren’t the same thing.
  • Is fishing free for guests, or is there a day pass on top?
  • Which species, and is there a weight limit or a specimen lake?
  • Can you night fish? Many holiday lakes say no.
  • Are dogs allowed on the banks, and on a lead?
  • Does the hot tub look onto the water, or the car park?

Get those answered and you’ll know exactly what you’re booking.

Is a fishing lodge worth it if only one of you fishes?

Yes, honestly. The angler gets dawn and dusk on the bank, and everyone else gets a lie-in, a lakeside hot tub with water views and a cathedral city or a spa village up the road. It’s a luxury short break with a fishing holiday folded inside it. That’s the real reason the fishing lodges with hot tubs Lincolnshire has to offer work so well for couples and families, not just for the keen angler in the group. Book the log cabin, pack the rods, and let the countryside do the rest.
