Two glasses on the rail, the lights on inside and the water already steaming as the sky goes pink over the hills. No one else’s towels on the deck and no shared spa timetable. That’s the whole point of a 1 bedroom lodge with hot tub: one double bed, a private hot tub and the rest of the world switched off for a few nights. It’s the simplest romantic getaway there is.
Finding the right one is the hard part, because every search turns up one park’s booking page after another. So we’ve done the comparing. Here are six luxury hideaways for two, from the Cumbrian fells to the Dorset coast and the Angus Glens, each rated 4.9 or 5.0 by guests.

Is a 1 bedroom lodge with hot tub right for you?
For most couples, yes. A bigger place just means more rooms to heat that you won’t use. Here’s who gets the most out of one:
- Couples on a short break. Two or three nights fits round work, and most of our six have five star reviews.
- Anniversaries and birthdays. A private soak beats a hotel spa shared with strangers. Our boutique stays have more ideas.
- Proposals. A quiet deck, a sea view and nobody watching.
- Pet owners. Half our six are dog friendly, and muddy paws are easier to manage in a small lodge.
Travelling as four, or heading for Yorkshire? Our pick of two bed lodges gives the second couple a room of their own, the three bed lodges sleep six and the four bed lodges take eight.
What you get in a one bedroom lodge for two
A one bedroom lodge usually follows a familiar layout: a double or king size room, a shower room (sometimes en suite) and a spacious living area with a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto the decking. A luxury lodge often adds underfloor heating or a coffee machine.
What’s usually included
Check each listing, but expect most of these:
- Bed linen and towels, often with robes for the walk to the tub
- A log burner or open fire at the cosier ones
- Parking right by the door
- Wifi, though signal can be patchy in the glens and on the fells
Lodge park or standalone retreat
Some sit on holiday parks with a restaurant or fishing on site, while the tub on your deck stays private. Others stand alone on a farm or estate and swap those extras for quiet. A few luxury lodge parks add a sauna, so check the listing if that matters to you.
Soaks with a view: fells, forest and the sea
The scenery is what you’ll remember. Ennerdale Water, near Kinniside, is the only one of Cumbria’s big waters without a road running along its full length, so evenings there are properly quiet. The National Park’s Ennerdale views route is an easy, step-free stroll by the shore.
On the coast, Auchencairn looks over Rascarrel Bay on the Solway, and Osmington is a short drive from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Watching the light fade over the water from your own tub takes some beating.
Bringing the dog
The Hutton John cabin, Auchencairn and Osmington all welcome pets. Rules vary, so check how many are allowed, whether there’s a charge and whether your dog can be left alone inside while you eat out. If yours likes to wander, our dog friendly lodges with an enclosed garden are worth a look.
When to book, and soaking tips
Valentine’s Day, Christmas and New Year go first, along with summer weekends. Midweek in November, January and early March is quieter, and a soak on a frosty night feels even better.
Relax and unwind, but keep the water at or below 40°C, and nearer 38°C for a long soak. Shower first, use plastic glasses and put the cover back on when you’re done.
Find your lodge for two
One bedroom, one deck and one private soak: it’s the easiest escape for couples, whether that’s a village on the coast or a glen in the hills. If none of these is free for your dates, browse more lodge and cabin ideas, see our Lake District cottages, or start your search for a cottage with a hot tub anywhere in the UK.
