Glebe House Reviews

We had a very enjoyable stay at this lovely property. Spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. All bedrooms have ensuite showers which were much appreciated. We loved the extensive garden although the weather wasnt ideal so we werent able to take full advantage. We love Seaham with its lovely beaches and excellent restaurants its an ideal place to visit for a holiday or short break

Absolutely beautiful house, very comfortable and all the facilities you could need, the hosts were exceptional and left a beautiful welcome basket. Great location, 10 minutes to the sea, 5 minutes to the shops and 20 minutes by taxi in Durham. Would most definitely book here again.

Glebe House was very spacious and our two boys loved running around the ground floor and making use of the many televisions. We very much appreciated the stair gates being installed for our one year old. Each bedroom comes with an ensuite and the main bed in particular was very comfy. Make sure to take some time to read the instructions as there are many switches to work some of the bedroom windows. Each room comes with a smart TV and we had no issues getting any to work. The main bedroom shower was lovely and hot but the bedrooms could have done with a quick dust as there was quite a build up evident behind the beds. Our boys really enjoyed exploring the grounds and there were lots of little woodland areas to explore and play in. Beware of the jaggy nettles though! Also keep an eye on the very back of the garden which leads to quite a steep drop at the back of the hot tub area...again not made aware by the owners as we were bringing young children. We were slightly disappointed that adjacent to the garden was a construction site which was not ideal. There was as a fence in place but we would have appreciated a heads up from the owners. Whilst the expansive garden was great for the children for the adults we found that the tables and chairs were quite dirty with some mould on the cushions. The hot tub area was nothing like the advertised photos. The area was dirty, extremely dark and the area around the tub was full of green flies which got into the tub falling from the surrounding screen when in use. Again the children enjoyed use of the hot tub but we didn't feel enticed to use it for the adults due to these issues. The hot tub control had been manually fixed in place with a screw leaving us unable to turn jets up making the tub akin to sitting in a warm bath, not exactly what was expected. The Summerhouse again was not like photos. We felt it could do with a good clean and some better maintenance. Of note the outside shower was corroded. However the inside shower itself was warm quickly with good pressure. With some more TLC this would be a very enjoyable area. All in all as we were disappointed as we booked this house from seeing the photos on Sykes holidays. The house although a period property it was dirty in some areas with gatherings of dust evident and some of the drinking glasses needed a clean before use. Please be aware of the main bedroom toilet which sits very high on the wall making it difficult to for anyone with disabilities or short in height like myself. The top cupboards and microwave were also quite high up, fortunately a stool was on hand but could be difficult with those with mobility issues. I doubt our family would return to this property but with a few upgrades, a lot of updates, and higher maintenance it would make great accommodation.
Had a fantastic stay what an amazing property! The house is really spacious, comfortable and warm and we loved the hot tub and summer house too. The owners were really friendly and helpful. Had a really lovely meal at the Fox and Tree 5 minutes walk away and spent time seaglass hunting at Seaham beach. I had a fabulous time celebrating my 50th this place made it very special thank you.
Stephen
House is fantastic, lovely welcome pack and the card was a nice touch.
Fabulous accommodation. Very well equipped. Hot tub area and facilities wonderful. Hosts very approachable and made us feel extraordinary welcome. Would highly recommend this cottage.
Stephen
Very spacious property set in its own grounds so lovely and private and secure as it has electric gates to the driveway. Very well situated for all amenities, shopping centre very close should you need anything, but far enough away that didnt cause any issues. Lots of destinations within easy reach by car as the house is just off the main road system. Would definitely recommend.
The property was outstanding with every possible amenity including the hot tub which we used every day. The gardens were amazingly well maintained & provided great exploration for our 2 grandsons as well as football fun. The large parking area provided excellent space for our 2cars. Internally the house was beautifully spacious, incorporating a blend of vintage & modern decor with lovely additional features. The owners could not have been more helpful & were on hand to answer all our queries. We will use again & would highly recommend to any future users.

The property was beautiful and spacious and very well maintained. We loved the open plan master bedroom with the dressing area and the balcony. We also loved the summer house and the hot tub. The gardens were beautiful and private. The owners were very welcoming and happy to help with anything you needed. Nearby there was excellent food, nice beaches and lots of shopping. It was 5 star. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

This is a luxurious, spacious and thoroughly relaxing property to stay in. The thoughtful attention to detail from the owners throughout was much appreciated excellent communication, a welcome hamper etc. The property is well located just a short drive from a wealth of activities, shops, coastal walks. We would certainly return it was a haven to wind down in and we enjoyed every minute.
Christine
Wonderful property. Luxurious, spacious and comfortable the master bedroom was out of this world. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and the hosts were so very welcoming. This location is perfect for exploring the area. We will absolutely be back!
Anthony
The house was beautiful and much bigger than it seemed on description & welcome pack was lovely. My girls loved the big smart tv's in every room, very nice touch for teens. I found all the tech for lights, door locking, heating etc. all very straightforward, but appreciate some might find it a bit technical
Andrew
Very nice accommodation for a family stay. Handy location for going into Seaham or Dalton Park.
We had a great time at Glebe House, the location was perfect for our group looking for a quiet few days and coastal walks. The house was well equipped and exactly how it was advertised. The summer house is a great asset and I'm sure would be perfect for warm evenings. We only had one minor disappointment and that was the lack of a downstairs toilet, especially if you were sleeping in the master bedroom with the open plan onsuite. Overall it is a lovely house and a great base for anyone wanting to explore the North East.
The property was extremely well appointed and very comfortable. We didn't use the master bedroom except for the walkin shower, which was excellent, because it was too big for us! The kitchen was well laid out and quite easy to use, although I couldn't find any kitchen scales it didn't make much of a difference! The living room was spacious and warm, with a large TV, which we only used a couple of times. The one fault I'd say it has is no downstairs toilet. Again, it's a minor fault.
Stephen
The property met our needs perfectly and was well located for visiting the Durham coast, Durham itself and a trip by train into Newcastle. We made use of the hot tub each day and very much enjoyed the space, luxury and character of the house itself
Awesome please, fabulous family. Thank you
