About St Laurence Church

Prepare to be wowed by this one-of-a-kind sanctuary, where the soaring grandeur of a former church meets luxurious modern living. With its own hot tub and sleeping up to 11 guests across five bedrooms, this extraordinary conversion offers an unforgettable stay for families or groups of friends looking to celebrate a special occasion.

From the moment you step through the original church porch, you’re immersed in style and character. With underfloor heating, soaring vaulted ceilings, and stunning stained glass casting rainbow light across the interiors, this is no ordinary holiday let.

The heart of the home is the jaw-dropping open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area in the former nave. Prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen set beneath an enormous arched window, then gather around the long oak dining table – framed by original pews, organ pipes and architectural details that celebrate the building’s sacred past.

The ground floor also features a handy utility room and a striking reception hall with a rose window and a sweeping staircase. Upstairs, the first floor boasts two elegant king-size bedrooms (one with an en-suite bathroom) and a family bathroom, as well as a dramatic galleried landing with views across the church interior.

On the top floor, you'll find two more beautiful king-size bedrooms – both with en-suite shower rooms and one with a mezzanine and sofa bed perfect for children – as well as a spacious triple room. Head outside into your private outdoor oasis.

Enjoy al fresco dining in the outdoor kitchen, complete with a ceramic BBQ. Soak in the hot tub under the stars or let the kids blow off steam on the lawn.

Ample driveway parking is provided. Set in the peaceful hamlet of Middleton One Row, a mile from Middleton St George and 7 miles from Darlington, this unique holiday home is ideally placed for exploring the North York Moors, and the Yorkshire Dales.

Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 15 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT
about 22 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY
about 27 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
