The Old St Johns Church Reviews

Emma Carter
The house was a fantastic spot for our big family getaway. Loved how the communal areas were laid out, especially keeping the dogs downstairs. Everything was well-equipped and comfy, making it a truly great base for three generations to enjoy!
Emma
We had a lovely stay at this place! The property really has everything you’d need for a relaxing short break or even a longer holiday. The coast isn’t far, perfect for walks or beach daysand most of the seafront is wheelchair friendly. We also appreciated how many cafes and pubs welcome dogs. Honestly, we found ourselves wanting to spend more time enjoying the fantastic facilities inside rather than venturing out. Great find!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay here! The open-plan kitchen was a real highlight, with loads of storage and a great breakfast bar - perfect for our sewing retreat. The five bedrooms each had their own en-suite, which was so convenient. The first-floor lounge with a DVD monitor and huge TV was a bonus for relaxing. Honestly, we’re already planning to come back - it ticked all our boxes!
Alex
We just got back after a week at St Johns Church and honestly, it was fantastic. The place had everything we needed plus some surprises. Really enjoyed our stay and definitely plan to come back soon!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay, the place was so welcoming, spotlessand nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
Mark
Really enjoyed our stay! The place comfortably fit four couples and a toddlerand it’s in a great spot to explore Filey and Bridlington. Sue was lovely to communicate with all along. Would definitely stay again!
George
We had a lovely stay at this place! The property is beautifully equipped and perfect for a get-together before Christmas. It’s in a great spot, close to Scarborough, Whitbyand Bridlington, which made exploring easy. The Yorkshire Wolds and Moors are just a short drive away. The hot tub was a bonus, though a bit small for the size of the houseand it wasn’t maintained during our visit, but that didn’t spoil things for us. Overall, a great stay!
Emma
We arrived around 3:30 pm but couldn’t get in until after 5 because the cleaners were still finishing up. There were ongoing plumbing problems, like a blocked upstairs toilet with faeces when we arrived. The upstairs plumbing didn’t seem to handle solid waste well. The kitchen stools were dusty and needed some TLC. It’s a lovely place that could be a 5* property with a bit of attention. Sadly, the pub next door has closed too.
Mark
We had a lovely time celebrating a 70th birthday with our family. The air hockey was a hitand even with the weather being a bit rubbish, the spacious property meant everyone could relax separately when needed. Definitely recommend!
Mark
We stayed here recently and faced a few issues. The kitchen had a fly problem which was quite annoyingand the upstairs TV was missing a remote. The shower in the downstairs room was loose at the fittingand the electric gate kept malfunctioning. Also, check-in was quite late for what we paid. Despite these, the place is really lovely and worth a visit if sorted out!
Emma
We had a fantastic stay here! The place felt really spaciousand all the bedrooms came with en-suites, which was a bonus. The living area was great, especially the reclining chairs - perfect for relaxing. The location was handy, just a short drive to the coast and shops. The kitchen was fully equipped, even with an air fryer, which we’re now tempted to get ourselves! Only downside was no sun loungers or garden table, which would’ve been perfect for the lovely weather. The church nearby is definitely worth a visit too.
Sarah
We had a lovely stay at this spacious house, perfect for our group of nine. Every bedroom was comfortable and had its own ensuite, which was a real bonus. The hot tub was spotless and a great way to unwind. The only letdown was the absence of the air hockey table, which my son was really looking forward to. Sadly, the local pub was closed and up for sale, so not ideal if you want a nearby drink. Still, all in all, a fantastic holiday and we’d recommend it!
Emma Carter
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. It’s super spacious and tastefully decorated, perfect for our three-generation family. The kitchen is well equipped, which was great for family meals. However, a few bathrooms could do with some maintenanceand we found only one set of keys and gate fobs, which was a bit of a hassle. The towels are quite smalland there's only one hairdryer. Also, some issues from previous reviews, like the missing air hockey table, still hadn’t been sorted. Still, overall, a nice place!
Ellie
We really enjoyed our stay here! The place has a charming character and a fascinating history, which adds to its appeal. It’s not super fancy-some mattresses could be cosier and the towels a bit bigger-but it’s well-equipped and feels very homely. The location is perfectand you can tell the owners put a lot of love into it. A few small fixes wouldn’t go amiss, though.
Emma
This place is a real gem in North Yorkshire, loved the vibe, would happily come back again!
Emma
We stayed in this spacious holiday home in a tiny villageand honestly, it was perfect for our group of 10. The house is well kitted out and really comfortable. The pub next door was super quiet, which was lovely. Not much happening in the village itself, but all the nearby towns and attractions, including the moors, were easy to get to. A couple of minor issues, but nothing major. Overall, we had a great stay!
Emma
Lovely stay, the house felt really welcoming and cosy, definitely recommend it!
James
Great spot, close to lovely beaches!
Emma
This place is a real gem! Loved the peaceful village settingand the kitchen had everything we needed. The secluded courtyard and hot tub were perfect for relaxing evenings. Definitely a great spot for friends or family.
Jessica
Really enjoyed staying here, great spot for exploring East Yorkshireand the house itself was lovely! Would come back!
